Boy… it’s been a while since I’ve seen a Matchbox kit. Great find. Enjoy, and I hope you do a WiP on it lol.
1/72 Hasegawa X-29 arrived
And this kit I stumbled upon browsing. I owned this boat as a boy. Kit is made by Classail Models International (never heard of them but they do a couple other small boat kits).
1/12 AMF/Alcort Sunfish
I have a second X-29 kit sitting on my model stash shelf. Still shrink wrapped too. Haven’t decided what I’ll build and paint it into yet.
Joe, that’s a good looking shelf. I second what @Tojo72 said about ensuring that it is secured. Especially if there is a door on that wall. The reason I say that is many years ago, I had shelves on the wall in my work room that just happened to be the same wall that our back door is located on. I got a call from my son while at work (back in the day when no one worked from home regularly). He told me that all of my built models were destroyed, on the floor of the work room.
Because the vibration from the door opening and closing (slamming on occasion) apparently loosened whatever fasteners I had used, probably nails, on one end of the shelf mounts, and down they went. Every build I had done since getting back into this hobby in 1995 went with them (well, every aircraft build with landing gear down).
The good news was that my wife said I could re-acquire those kits to build again (which I did, and then some). And lesson learned when I re-did my work bench with shelving above it - I did not mount the shelves on that same wall, and I used a stud finder to which I drilled 3" deck screws into. The shelves aren’t going anywhere.
Lookup cleat mounts for cabinets. Extremely secure.
I just picked these three, they’ll go to the stash to wait for their moment to shine! I may build the Mirage next after my Kate. And after I finish with my exams.
dadoffour, those are two great kits. I built the Lysander a few years ago and I have the Life-Like boxing of that Gladiator kit in my stash.
@MR_TOM_SCHRY anything to watch for on the Lysander build?
OH I need to track one of these down. My daughter used to sail competitively in the Sunfish when she was a Sea Cadet.
Did you have to smuggle them into the house?
No, I was at uni and had to place them somewhere before I went back home.
Here you go Tony - https://www.dinghyshop.com/product/30991.html
Oh I’ve already got that one covered Steven. There’s about 7 years worth of building on those shelves. A couple only took me 3-4 months to build but most of 'em took around 7-8 months if not longer to build and I’m not about to risk all of that work. LOL
I’ve been wanting to put a “Bullitt II” Charger in the build que as of late after looking at my “Lee II” GL custom build again.
It’ll follow the same type of theme with being lowered just a tad all the way around and with a more aggressive wheel/ tire combo
I needed another model kit like I need a hole in the head BUT…I’ve got my car…now I need to score the wheels.
The wheels I’m eyeballin’…
My latest acquisition which is only a few bottles of paint and thinner.

dadoffour, the only thing that I remember was the fit of the wing to the fuselage was very tricky.
It’s amazing what one randomly finds in an antique store.
Got myself a set of twins. Complete except for one left shin piece. These are the original MPC issue from the ‘70s. Even made in Canada when we actually made stuff here.
The only issue I have is that considering where I got these and I’m older than the kits, must mean that I’m an antique as well….
Classic is a better term for us
@keavdog Experienced works as well.
Vintage sounds good too.
