Optional parts in Tamiya's upcoming 1/48 scale Panther G (pic)

That is why we have to wait and see. We might get lucky. Track48 also makes resin tracks for the Panther so if they fit the drive sprocket then that could be a solution. However all this might be a tempest in a teapot until we know what the Tamiya idler looks like. The late war idler was 650mm in diameter. what was the diameter of the earlier one?

…after examining the sprue photos @ HLJ, I see only one set of idlers . Next question ; Were the last idler types coincidental with steel rimmed wheels? With battle-damaged vehicles constantly being trained back to the factory for repair, an appreciable number had to become hybrids. I believe that will be the nature of my first model of this kit.

Is this really that big a deal at the end of the day? Will a slightly larger or smaller idler make people shrink in horror from the kit? Will people point and avert their eyes, or hide their children from the idler?

Sure, it’s always neat to have the manufacturer produce a perfect replica of the original, but if the error is hard to fix, and doesn’t look terrible when left as it is, I say, fuggeddaboudit. [:p]
