Old USS Enterprise that I am building. Plastic is something else, alignment cue’s are non-existent and I think I am going to sue a ton of putty. So yeah, this is going to be a fun build! [:)]

That’s a older issue of it. Has the larger deflector dish and smooth nacelles end caps. Looking forward to it.

I built two of those. Melted the second one trying to light it back before LEDs were readily available!
When the kit first came out the necelles had a yellow tinted bubble.
i still have one of them. Later on everything except the domes were white.
For the episodfe “Doomsday Machine” they used the AMT kit for the Constellation. You can see it if you watch the original series run before the upgrades were made to the episodes.
Actually they used the original 1960’s kit in several episodes of the series.

Doomsday Machine, footage from that episode in The Ultimate Computer, The Trouble With Tribble, those are the only ones im aware of. The balance was one of three versions of the 11 foot model or 3 foot model, except the metal one in Capshaw. The model on the table in Requiem For Methusala was the 3 footer.
Using the original kit which cost, if I remember right, was only 2.50 back then and must have saved the show a ton of money.
Im going to watch this! I have an old AMT kit albeit packaged on a black background sitting in my display cupboard and haven’t been able to bring myself to build it, so this is going to be cool.

The hardest part was always getting the nacelles to line up evenly. Then there’s the question of the three large dents, or scoops, in the bottom of the saucer section. What were they supposed to be?
The AMT kit was used in a few of the distance shots in the show as the Defiant and the Excaliber.
Wasn’t a model used in the episode “Devil in the dark” where the ENTERPRISE could be seen outside the station managers office on space station K-7?

Devil in the Dark was the one with the Horta underground.
The Defiant was the 11 footer,
Excalibur was the AMT kit.

Somewhere I have photo’s of the AMT kit used in The Trouble with Tribbles.
It was on display at the science fiction museum in Seattle in the mid 2000’s.
Thats the issue with digital photo’s! I have litterally 10’s of thousands of them!

Well I am slowly but surely outtying the seams. I hope to assemble the nacelles to the secondary hull this week. Next week at the latest. Maybe even get the secondary hull together and prepare puttying the seam going down the middle. On a side note, does any recall how much of an issue the decals were for this kit?
I don’t remember there being much of an issue with the square boxed kits, but im sure R2 will sell you a set of the new decals if you need them.
If it has the build any ship decals the font is completely inaccurate. I know there are accurate ones out there but not sure who makes them.
