Nightfighters

They sound like words of wisdom to me ! I was just asking because I saw it in a new box and had a slight hope that it could be a new mold?

stuka_69,

What tho9900 said about the Airfix Bf 110 1/72 scale kits also could be said about the old Bf 110G 1/72 scale kit.
I have more of those old Revell kits in my stash and will build them someday but not anytime soon, I want to try the Italeri kit first.

My three current models are almost finished and in a couple weeks I will be starting a couple more kits, I hope this nightfighter GB is underway by then as I am very interested in joining.

Here is a pic of the Revell 1/72 scale Bf 110G-4 I built a couple years ago, notice the lack of any panel line detail on this model.

Here is a pic of a Ju 88G-6 that was taken after the war ended, notice the very cool looking camouflage on this a/c and the missing prop blades.

Here’s a few pics of the Fujimi Bf110 kit in 1/48, I have heard their 1/72 is nice too.

Cockpit - a bit spare but some PE could fix it up bearable… maybe some scrat pipes etc on the fuselage walls.

Showing the fuselage seam… or lack of!!! no sanding no filler yet:

the canopy - a bit thick overall, but nice lines along the braces etc… when painted up it will look good!

The ProModeler Ju88 is a fun build as well, nice detail in the cockpit… it did require a bit of filler but nothing outrageous… when finished it really does look good though!!!

That Fujimi kit looks and sounds nice I think I’ll have a look for one in the LHS next time I’m there!

tho9900,
I have built that Fujimi 110 kit years ago and it turned out well, looks like you are off to a very good start on yours.

stuka_69,
The Italeri kit of the Bf 110G-4 is now avaiable from Roll Models, next time I order modeling supplies from them I will place my order for that kit.

yeah if I can ever get around to starting it again Matrix… it started as a filler build between GB’s and now I am so caught up in other builds it sits in the exact same shape as the pics as we speak…

tho9900,
I remember that Fujimi Bf 110 kit that I built years ago, it was painted and marked as a 3./ZG 26 aircraft with white painted spinners and nose.

I also am working on a number of models at the same time, the Tamiya Do 335B, Monogram Me 262, and Revell Li P-13a are nearly done the 1/32 scale Hasegawa Fw 190A-8 being built as an A-9 is about half finished. Also working on 1/48 scale kits of Verlinden Luftwaffe start carts and a Kettenkraftrad.
A few weeks ago I was also building the Tamiya Me 262, Hasegawa 1/32 scale Bf 109K, and 1/48 scale Bf 109G-14 but wisely put them aside when I realized I was not having fun, my modeling time was turning into a second full time job and little real progress was being on any of the models. From now on no more than two models at a time will be on the work bench.
That 1/32 scale Hasegawa Fw 190A-8 is so much fun to build that I only planned to dry fit a few parts when that kit arrived but one thing lead to another and I started building it. This is one of those kits that is you just can’t put down after starting it.

I know what you mean!
I’ve got three kits on my work bench at the moment which are all so close to finishing but I never quite have the time to do it , I’ve got Minicrafts 1/72 B24D which needs the landing gear , guns and clear parts glued on and she’ll be finished , I also have a 1/72 typhoon which needs the same work done as my Liberator does , and I’ve got a Tiger 1 which needs it 's tracks and wheels and then it’ll be finished.
You can see the pattern in all my models as I get closer to the end It starts to get tedious in away and I always get dragged into starting another model but hopefully I’ll try to sit down and finish these all before I start another kit …? I hope…?

stuka_69,

A few weeks ago my work table looked like a German a/c factory that was just bombed by the 8th AF, I had parts everywhere!
I could have had my Do 335B, Me 262, and Li P-13a finished last weekend but was busy working on the 1/32 Fw 190A.
The Do 335B just needs some light weathering and the landing gear added and a final flat clear coat and its done. I hope to have pics of it posted in the forum by next Sunday.
My other two models are also close to being finished and when they are my full attention will be on that big Fw 190, a fun kit with a few minor fit problems that I am not quite sure if they are my fault or the models.

If and when this GB gets going I decided my model will be the 1/72 scale Arado 240, it is a kit that I have had for years and this GB will be a good reason as any to get to work on it.

Are Airfix kits are really that bad? I built one kit, but, considering the fact that I’m really just a novice modeler, I thought I just messed it up.

The thing about Airfix kits is that they need so much work and attention to turn them into a nice looking model.
I’ve got there Sunderland in my stash which Im getting ready to build , and that my freind is going to be a big project, I’m planning on sanding and rescribing all the panel lines which that alone will take several months of hard carefull labour to get done .
Then theres detailing the cockpit and bomb bay area (if you would call it that?) which will take months of precise building and large amounts of referance (if you were’nt using AM parts) , then you have to paint and weather the beast which would be another couple of weeks.
So all up a an airfix kit is a lot of work especially something of this caliber which is going to take me at least a year to build if not longer!

Is this GB idea still alive, and if so you guys need a GB Badge? I’ve got a Mosquito NF.II in the queue…

Fade to Black…

I’m game on this build with a JU-88 and a Ta-154A.When will this build start and when will it end, this is the question.Digger

Nobody really knows whats going on as whoever started this group build hasn’t been back since the first post!

Well if it started late summer I would join if someone wanted to take this over! I just found a good paint combo for a night fighter color!

A P-61 would be a good kit to do-from revell monogram

I would, but I’m running two builds already. Sorry.

Time to bump it back up to the top again.

yeah I had forgotten about this one… Aug or so looks good for me still though… I might be able to take the horns on this one if no one else does… I’ll have to see how work shapes up before I commit though…

I would be interested in this build. I have some web space avialable where we could post pictures and comments on the completed models when we’re finished and keep around for posterity. Having a site for the GB is the norm over at ARC and kind of sets it apart, especially when there are as many GB’s going on as there are here. Any input?
