Nightfighters

Has there ever been a Group Build for nightfighters? Or would there be interest in doing one?

Derwin

I could be persuaded, provided it’s not starting anytime before mid-2005! So, if you have some interest now, go ahead without me… If not, I might at last build that He-219 I bought like 10 years ago!

I would be interested in doing this build. I have the Monogram F-82 Twin Mustang in my stash as well as Superscale decals. So, if it’s for later in the year, consider me in.

does this include heloicopters? and what era’s of fighters? if its aound march you can count me in[:D][:D]

Great idea…count me in! I’ve got Tamiya’s Gekko (Irving) setting on my shelf just screaming to be built.

I have the He 219, and that sounds good[:D], and I would also like it if it was later in the year. Around May would be nice.

Similar thoughts to others … if it starts mid-year, I could be persuaded to unveil a Ju-88C Pro Modeller 1/48 scale - need an excuse to get into my stash of German aircraft [;)]

So, what’s the word? Is it on? Do we have a go?

trck69drvr, did you die at your computer a month ago? What’s the word? Am I going to have a good excuse to build my He 219? What’s going on?!?

Hi from Czech Rep …

Sorry, my english isn´t good.

Can I be in this GB too ? I´v Interest about Nightfighter from the both Sides of Chanell (Beuafighter, Ju 88, Bf 110 …)

I would be intersted in building a Night Bf110 but I’m all booked up until mid -yearso I won’t be able to start anything before MAY.

I’ll probably have some time after or during late summer. I need to get an airbrush, though. Is that aztec airbrush easy to use and/or clean?

modelingmonkey,

I don’t have an Aztec airbrush but have read about some people not liking them and also read about QC issues with that product.

The Badger 150 is a great airbrush and I have used one for years with great success, I replaced the needle and head assembly with the XF and can now spray the German nightfighter style mottles and scribble camouflage patterns with ease.

I also have the Badger 100G but rarely use it because the 150 with the XF head and needle can almost perform as well as the 100G.
The 100G would be ideal for spraying the scribble camouflage on 1/72 scale models and for doing post-shading.

I would like to join a nightfighter GB but can’t at this time because my work table is full of projects that need to get finished. In a few weeks I should be ready to join this GB.

My list of nightfighter kits are:

Special Hobby 3-seat Me 262

Hey Matrixone
Whats the Italeri and revell Bf110’s like? what scale are they?

stuka_69,

The Italeri and Revell are both in 1/72 scale, the Revell kit that I have is very old and not really that good. It has very sparse detail and not all that accurate. That kit was purchased years before Monogram and Revell merged.
The newer Italeri kit is much better and I remember reading a review of this model and the worst thing that was said about it was the canopy was not correct for the Bf 110G-4 version.
The good news is Italeri will release this kit again this year, I plan to buy at least one more of them (you can never have enough Bf 109s and Bf 110s).

Matrixone

Cheers , might invest in one myself!

Wow, you must have a garage full of kits. You have more nightfighter kits than I have any kits.

regarding the Bf110 kits. the 1/48 Fujimi Bf110 C/D kit is a really good kit. the interior is a little sparse so those who like detail might want to invest in some PE.

There were few if any gaps after cementing the fuselage together, very little sanding required to get it flush (no putty required). All in all I compare the kit to an average Hasegawa kit. I do recommend masking the canopy with BMF or some REALLY thin tape as the brace detail is recessed instead of being protruding on the canopy… BMF fits right into the grooves and you can scribe it with a knife to mask it well…

And for those of you turned off by the box art, the “whale belly” fuel tank is a separate piece in the kit and can be left off totally.

I’d like to join this GB but am strapped at the moment as far as GB’s go… if it had an open end to it I might be interested, or at least one far off…

What about the old airfix 1/72 Bf110C/D? anybody built one of those?

just my experience with old Airfix kits… Run away!!! Run away!!!
