Nichimo 1/200 U-234 car build

Hmmm;

What an unuual Dashboard decoration . You Know of course the model does look good , Right ? T.B.

This is the boat that rerrendered at Portsmouth New Hampshire on May 19th. 1945, with :560kg-uranium oxide, 2-Me262 jet fighters, and 10-jet engines, on board.

Towed to deep woter off Cape Cod on November 20th. 1947, and sunk by a single torpiedo amidscips by the USS Green Fish.

Hi;

What are all those vertical tubes for ? T.B. P.S. And , Is that a hole in the side ?

Thank you–Tanker-Builder, the U-234 type XB was a mine layer. The 6-tubes in the bow, had 3 mines stacked in each. And the 12-tubes on each side, had 2-mines stacked in each. The hole in the side is where the next set of 3-tubes will go. As of today–1-more set of 3-tubes left to install, then I can begin covering the side tubes with the outter balest hull.

So, The germans did make “Freudian slips”? Or is it a bad Pun??

Ya know, U-234 ( Uranium-234 is an isotope of uranium.)

Great Job on the U-234 XB boat Build. I know there is a VIId model by AFV but I do not know of any Type XB plastic kits. Your scratch build looks really good. Need more Pictures! Speaking of Bad puns…

If you do mount this Mine layer on the dashboard, maybe put a long piece of magnetized iron in it and it could be “Mein Kompass!”

Thank you–Nino. working on the ballast hull today–more pictures sune.

Hey Looking good ;

I definitely think using the completed boat as a dash mounted compass would be cool . Nah , It’s looking good . Keep on Keeping on . How come the build is taking place in a car , if you don’t mind me asking ? Is that your temporary workshop ? I know I did it in a van once because the landlady didn’t like the smells coming from out apartment .

You know don’t you , that the sub is taking on the outlines of a " Milch Cow " or supply sub as used for supplying Wolfpack . T.B.

Thanks for the additional pics. Quite wide blisters on the hull to accomade those mines. Glad you got good plans. I knew how the mines were stored but I always wondered how they released them.

In regard to the Milch Cows ie: Subs for carrying supplies… There was an interesting WWI German Sub class used as a Merchant Submarine. The one I recall from History was U-155. It was used to trade with the USA before we entered World War 1. Pretty sure it was completly unarmed so was considered ok for trade with the US.

I did a quick search and the U-155 was converted into a “warship” with deck guns and Torpedo tubes later in the war. “He” had an impresive war record.

Didn’t mean to hi-jack the thread. So, back to Mine business…

Don’t the glue fumes get intense in the car…? Oops, sorry, guess thats a retorical question.

working on the bow today.
