This is an interesting project. Looking forward to this build.
OT, The last two pictures were taken 1134 yards (+/-) south/southwest of the REI I used to shop in. I haven’t been up there since the REI in Keizer opened but it would seem as if you either live or work not far from where I live - Salem.
Your Build looks Beautiful. Do you know if the type XB Conning tower/fairwater is any different from the IXc?
Today’s thought…So, no torpedo tubes in the bow, just the 6 verticle tube spaces for mines. Plating over the Bow tubes makes sense. That leaves just 2 torpedo tubes for the stern. I would imagine this would have been a slow moving U-boat with that wide hull.
A last thought… according to various Web pages (lol), the type XB had the longest OA length of all German Subs. I would not know how to lengthen the Nichimo IXc hull to simulate a XB boat, but it looks like you did it! Great work.
I see all your PB Pics went away too. I just changed to Flickr and then added back all my Pic’s to A Tale of Two Ships thread. Worked Great. Took a while- good thing I’m retired now. Please try another site for your pictures. There are a bunch. Fotki is also another good site. Village.photo has also been recommended.
Thanks for that extra effort. Pics look great. I see you are on IMGUR. I may give them a try too. Have you decided on how to make Hatch covers for the MINE shafts? Ya don’t want a Mine Shaft gap!
At 1/200 I will not be adding the screens under luvers. I have ben too bisy reposting the pictures photobucket took down, to get any work dun on the U-234.
Santa,
I “won” a Nichimo 1/200 IXC boat yesterday with the idea to simulate what you are doing. Hope you can return to your Car “bench” soon now that Spring is supposed to be here.
