I thought we could share with each other a model kit that it might seem that the industry is overlooking, etc., with the hopes that their reps might check this list out for future release considerations.
Honestly, it seems to me that mostly all they are doing is re-issuing the same old subjects, only with a slight twist (like some flimsy photo-etched parts) so as to mainly justify doubling the price.
My first vote is for a 1/48th Heinkel He-59 seaplane, in early Luftwaffe markings.
It’s not exactly state of the art nowadays but if you can find it Matchbox did the ‘greenhouse’ skyraider in 48th. afaik Revell have the molds so they may re-release it.
I’d like to see a really good and detailed model of the de Havilland Chipmunk in 32nd or 24th scale. I have the Airfix 1/72 and the Aeroclub 48th but they are both a bit basic and the aeroclub one is a limited run. both kits can be made into good replica’s though.
I would really like to see someone re-box the Testors/Italeri U-2R with some nice decals (a la Revell Germany’s re-pops of Hasegawa kits) and maybe a resin goodie in the box. Perhaps an optional instrument panel for the new glass-cockpit aircraft… that’d be awesome.
As far as a “new” kit, here’s one I’d love but will never see unless I scratchbuild it… 1/48 Spartan 7W Executive.
It would be nice for someone to do a new one, of course, but there is a 1/48th version, now discontinued, that Minicraft put out. If I remember correctly, they did 2 boxings, one for the original short-nosed version, and one for the later long-nosed one. You can find them on eBay every now and then, and I’ve also seen the kit in the odd stash at various local hobby shops.
