Does anyone know if the P-39Q just announced by Accurate Miniatures is a re-boxing of an existing tool or a new Accurate tool ??
I don’t know, but WOO-HOO!
What’s with the influx of Cobra kits lately? That’s cool that they are doing the racing versions. Don’t see those too often.
[#ditto]
Did you see the initial “Old Crow” on the AM website? SWEET!
Yeah-
Don’t care too much about the racing birds - but Bud Anderson’s markings caught my eye!
I hope it does get released in September- I’ll certainly buy it. I was hoping the P-51B’s would come out as announced in August, but they’re not likely to come out until 1st Quarter '07 now. I wanna build two of 'em- Gentile’s and Godfrey’s birds.
From what I understand it’s a reboxing of the Eduard kit with new decals.
Saw a couple of reviews on that kit at Modeling Madness… doesn’t sound too bad.
Wonder if AM is going to add any frets or additional goodies?
If it is the Eduard molding, it’ll be a great kit. I just scored the Airacobra Dual Combo Pak from Squardron. (2 planes in one box with all the goodies.) for $45.00. Nice kits!
I just hope that they come up with accurate decals for the Italian Co-Belligerent P-39’s. The Eduard set for the Italian one, continued the same inaccurate markings, which was the only big minus to that kit.
If you are not familiar with the error I am mentioning it relates to the Stormo names. The 4° Stormo used on their Macchi 202’s and 205’s a scrip with 4° Baracca. This wasn’t used on the Co-Belligerent aircraft which used a very similar looking script reading 4° Lucchini on their aircraft, especially P-39’s . These scripts are very flowing and if looking at them without a careful eye you can mistake the wording of one for the other.
Italian Kits is coming out with a new set of decals for the Italian P-39’s, but I haven’t seen a good picture of them as of yet.
If Mkhoot is right and they’re out of the Eduard molds, then just go ahead and buy the kit - The Eduard offering is fantastic.
I’ve got the Profi-Pack…lemme tell ya, it wasn’t exactly cheap, but it was worth every penny. As near as being a “perfect” kit as I’ve ever seen.
I’ll buy it sight unseen from Accurate Miniatures.
Will the Accurate Miniatures kit include the paint masks and nose weight that the Eduard kit comes with? I don’t understand why they are releasing a kit that is still readly available from Eduard. And not to mention that it’s coming out hot on the heels of the Hasegawa P-400. I’m sure they have will have a “Q” sometime in the near future as well.
This is just a hunch, but are AM and Eduard in some type of contractual agreement with each other? I mean the AM Yak’s are reboxed by Eduard and visa-versa on the P-39’s. I mean it would make sense. One could argue that AM is the “premier” American model co (of recent) while Eduard is Europe’s top dog. Both are known for their excellent kits, neither are quite as large as Revell-Monogram, Tamiya or Hasegawa. Seems like a win-win situation for both companies.
Just my speculation…
JWB - do you have any info or pics of Godfrey’s P-51B? Seems like everybody always concetrates on Shangri-La. I was also thinking of doing the two wingmen with my Tamiya P-51B’s, but need some good info on Godfrey’s ride.
Thanks in advance if you have any!
Nothing that’s really good for Godfrey. I know his P-47 was called “Reggie’s Reply”, but I don’t have a good pic showing if his -51 had that on it. I’ll pull together what I’ve got and post it in Photobucket, and send you the link.
Found this on Cybermodeler. Hope it’s of some use.

i think i’ll get 2 of them so i can do both race versions,i need to add more color to break up my display
for your link to work - you’ve gotta change “aorcraft” to “aircraft”.
Thanks for the link - 1st one I’ve seen. Godfrey’s looked pretty “plain jane” next to Gentile’s. . .
