My wife's B-17, progress pics

She started working on it last week. This is “technically” her second model, but first build: she did all the painting on the B-17 I built for my dad’s birthday a couple weeks ago. She wanted to try her hand at a B-17, since it’s here favorite a/c.

Working on those small pieces:

She’ll start painting tonight, I think.

You my friend are truly a lucky man, to have a wife who is not only interested in the hobby, but also very talented. My hat’s off to you.

Jerry

Hehehe what a cool wife you´ve got…my gf just couldnt care less for my interest in AC and modelling…lol…id like to see here sitting with a model in the future…

Well, well, arn’t you lucky! I’m a little jelous. My wife supports me somewhat in the hobby but still doesn’t take much interest.

The Fortress is looking good! keep it up!

That is just way too cool! My wife supports my hobby 100% but she admits that she wouldn’t have the patience to put a kit together. That is so neat that you’re wife actually builds them! I think I can safely say yours is a marriage which will last the ages.

Best to you both,

Eric

my wife made my day when she showed passing interest by saying “honey when are you starting to build that plane i bought you for your birthday?”, but your wife actually gets right into the building herself. how lucky are you.

My wife gives me the standard, “that looks nice” every now and then, but she’s never sat down to build one with me. Consider yourself a lucky man! BTW, which B-17 scheme are you building? I am hoping to get to my B-17F late this year.

You are a lucky man indeed. My wife just barely tolerates my modeling. I was speaking to my oldest son last night who lives across the country from me and he has just now taken an interest in modeling (Gundam). We have been talking about the finer points of airbrushing and paint mixtures when he mentioned that his girlfriend has started building models also and just experienced the sweet pain of the xacto knife into the pad of the thumb. It just makes ya get all teary eyed. Now I need to fly to Seattle and show him how to airbrush - perfect excuse to travel.

My wife will look at my latest build and say " That’s Cute", while I grind my teeth & bite my tounge. A P-51D is NOT CUTE, I want to scream, but never do. Looks like your better half is doing well. Keep us posted.

Regards, Rick

Dude, that’s HOT! The girl I’m currently “talking” to aparently thinks that only 5 year olds model

I’d love for my wife to show an interest ,and participate…but I don’t really want her getting into my kit stash or paint!Or for that matter really finding out what this stuff costs.Tamiya 1/48 Mossie with four Aries kits=dead man.

Very lucky man. My wife is interested and actually encourages me to model. I think that’s just cause it keeps me off the computer though [:-^]

Hey Knight,

Yep, it’s really great to have a passtime you can share with your wife.
My wife, too, has a B-17 on the shelves-- inspired by the film Memphis Belle. I know that if I can just get her to start the thing, she’ll be hooked for life![;)]

She’s off to a masterful start. Can’t wait to see the finished product.

Mark

You are truely blessed to have a wife that participates in your hobby. Keep us posted with the progress. A little advice now and then is OK, but let her “do her own thing’” and learn for herself. [bow] [;)]

My girlfriend doesn’t really know what to think about my modelling. She likes the fact that I have a hobby but think’s plastic models are for nerds.
In her defence I should add that she is very supportive of my hobby and she even tried figure painting. And we do have other hobbies that we share!

knight667, your wive has made a good start with the b-17.
Why doesn’t she join the forums?

tell her great job!

Just as I do have! (;-D)

Awesome! And the B-17’s looking great!

Uh, yeah, I wouldn’t want my wife getting into my tools or kit stash, either. I have a hard enough time getting 5 or 6 hours a week in, I wouldn’t want to compete with her.

Although, I must say, if my wife were to wear something black, lacy and verrrrrry skimpy, I would totally love for her to model! [:D]

I suggested that, but she prefers to watch from the sidelines for now. [:D]
