I decided i wanted to do something different,but i didn’t want to do a tank, i did one, and i didn’t really enjoy it…
So i decided i will do a series of wheeled armor…
This is the first one i will do…
What do you think???
Now, i wouyld like some advice on how to do this, is there PE and resin parts for this kit??/ Is there something i can make to add to this kit??/Does anyone know where i can find some good refernce material for this tractor??? I looked around on the net some, and have not really found anything that good yet…
I would like to learn about weathering, any good sites for that???
Ron … you know you can’t resist the lure of the darkside. lol
This is a very nice kit you have chosen. There are some PE sets available on the market for this kit, but it really builds up nicely OOB. The best addition you could make to this kit is to pick up the Tamiya 25 pounder to pull behind it.
On the net you’ll find quite a bit on the CMP vehicles, but you need to really gleen through the pile of info. Do a search for CMP Ford and you’ll trun up a few pages.
Cehck out a site called Maple Leaf Up ( sorry can’t remember their addy).
If all else fails, let me know and I can send you some pics of one that I took a couple of years ago.
A good kit OOB as Shermie said. The figures for the Tamiya 25 pdr are a bit dated, but the rest of the kit is quite satisfactory as is - especially for a novice armor builder. Buy one and come and join the towed gun build…you won’t regret it.
The 25 pdr is a good beginner kit, but unfortunately a bit dated as well. I agree with Peter, get the 25 pdr. and join the gun and tow build. You still could anyway, even if you don’t get the gun.
Ron, it is a cool kit. I helped a friend build one last year (although his kit included the towed 25pounder howitzer). He built it OOTB and it still looked great.
Nice choice! Good decision to stay in the dark. He-he-he.
I strated to buy this kit at Hobby Lobby today! $22 and it includes the cannon and ammo trailer. Since you guys say the figs for the cannon are dated, this may be the reason why they are not included in this kit. I was planning to start a thread on this very subject tonight, now I don’t have to. I gotta print me off another 1/2 off coupon and pick one up this weekend before the sale ends!
I love building the odd vehicles!
If you want to know what is available for any particular kit in the future, you can go to www.greatmodels.com and search via their “cross reference” link. This will show you everything available including references and PE. They do tend to be slow shipping at times if you order from them , but it is a great way to find out whats out there for a particular subject. Good luck.
Since Saturday is the last day for the Hobby Lobby sale I went and picked up my Quad today when the missus sent me out to get some oil for her car!LOL Nice kit! Can’t wait to start on it. I’ll have to put mine on tha back burner though. I just bought about 10 kits in the past week or so! That’s why I’ve been posting so much this week!
Grab the 25 punder and join the group build, so far most sound to be leaning towards German kits [ah, because MOST of the available stuff is German![;)] ] I wanted to do a battery of American Howitzers but I am having a hard time finding kits so I am thinking of German ambushed by Americans [ Kind of like the scene in Saving Private Ryan when he hits the halftrack with the bazooka.] I would like to set up a bridge or culvert with the hlaftrack with with bazookas and 30cal machine guns
so far i have seen solid green, solid desert tan/yellow, and desrt with “Mickey Mouse” camo. Were they in any other colors or potential colors? I’d like to make mine unique. All i see are green or tan ones. maybe a snow camo…
