Monogram 1/48 F-117A Nighthawk Completed

Been a while since I’ve built anything. Last thing was the Sabre Dog about a month ago I think, lol. Building this for the Monogram Mafia group build, but thought I would go a head and post it here as well.

Just a little bit of cockpit work to start off.

That 'pit sure looks nice and busy! Good luck with your build and have a nice day

Paweł

Was wondering what you were up to. Seemed like every week you were finishing another build a little while back. Glad to see you back!

That pit is busy, and looks very good.

Have fun,

D

Didn’t know Mono had done one of these. Nice start.

Same here.

Toshi

Looks good so far! Like the others, I didn’t know there was a 1/48 Monogram kit of this…I’ll have to keep an eye out for one.

Hey Keyda, the F-111 is a unique bird that never seems to get the attention it deserves. I hope you can share more. And it is good to have you back!

Thanks everyone! I picked up the kit at the modeling convention a few months back, along with a few other older ones.

Haven’t been around much lately due to summer activities, camping, and an airshow. Plus I’ve been what seems like constantly working on my daily driver, an old 91 Cavalier RS convertible. Picked it up last year, and it’s turned into a project, lol.

Sounds a lot like my 92 Geo. Been working on it for almost 13 years. Runs good, but leaks oil through the pan so fast I dont need to change the oil lol! One of those things I still need to fix.

Slow progress is a sure sign of summer, so no worries.

Also sounds like my 2000 Ram 1500. I don’t change oil anymore just the filter. Oil gets added so often it’s still clean Great, start on the F-117

That sounds like the 2000 Stratus I drove for a little while. My cousin drove it over the winter with a bunch of oil coming out of the pan, it was rusted through, lol. No fluid leaks in the old Cavalier, just a lot of little things that were wrong with it. Someone took care of the car early on in it’s life, probably the only reason it’s still around. I have a soft spot for it, my first car was a Cavalier coupe.

The first one: 1990

The current one:1991

Nice busy cockpit, love to see more!

Toshi

Yeah, really nice work on the cockpit there!

Thanks Toshi and Gamera!

Little bit more progress today. Not a whole lot going on yet, I opted to paint the landing gear bays and such after it’s together. I’m thinking it might be easier if the plane is painted first, then I just mask around the bays and then paint them. We’ll see how it works out.

Yes, I’m extremely interested on how this works out in that you paint first (Especially in black) and then you glue after. You’re a brave soul! LOL! I would probably mess the paint job up with glue.

Although, from what I can see, everything looks great!

Toshi

Bit more progress today since we had crappy weather.

Fuselage halves glued together.

Nose glued on. This has to be the strangest looking plane I’ve worked on so far, lol

Tail feathers, lol.

Masked off the canopy and set it in place.

Done for today. I’m finding I can only work on this one for a little bit at a time. Glue some stuff, and then wait. If tomorrow is crappy I’ll start with sanding and what not.

Nice work so far, its coming together well. Didn’t realise this thing was that big.

You think thats odd looking, you should try some of the German Luft 46 subjects.

It’s turning out really nice. And taking shape, I like the way it looks. You did a good Job on it!

Toshi

Looking good. Waiting to see how the wheel wells turn out. Please leave your opinion and comments as to how well it works out.

Bish, Thanks, it is a decent size, about the same as say an F-15, F-14. Oh boy, thos german ones do take the cake for odd looking! Lol.

Thanks Toshi! I’ve been checking in on your kingfisher build, but thanks to PB can’t see the pics. I’m sure it’s coming along beautifully though.

roony, I hate trying to mask off landing hear bays after I’ve painted them, drives me crazy. On top of that they need to be painted white when it’s black plastic! So I’ll try a different approach to this one and see what happens! I plan to have it primed tomorrow, so hopefully that will help the white cover better.

A small amount of progress today. Some putty applied. I love the perfect plastic putty. It works out very well for me. I tend to make a huge mess, no big deal with this stuff even after it dries.

Sanded. Going to tack cloth it tomorrow and get a coat of primer on her, and go from there.
