Nice pics. Did you have a chance to see the B-17 Sentimental Journey? I was just at Falcon Field last weekend and have about 30-40 pics of her. If any of you live in the Phoenix area it is worth it to go out there and check her out, especially since they allow you to crawl through her. Congrats on earning medals for your models also.
It was a really fun show, with two dioramas that were stunning, and some really great work. Wish there had been more of the kid’s entries, I always like to see what the next generation is up to!
The paint work on that yf-23 is interesting I like it even though it looks like it should be on a piece of armor. dioramas are always fun to look at. I like the ones that are so big ever time you go by you find something you didn’t see the last time around.
Some very nice work on display! Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Cool pics. Looks like the Revell 1/48 B-17 and B-24 I built as a kid is still a favorite.
Thosebuilds that are in cases are on loan to the CAF. That YF-23 the checkerd pattern one i was lookin real close and i think that the camo is a decal i seen some silvering on the wing. No sentamental journey wasnt there. Theres a picture of a guy standing by the F-4 Phantom buy the rear exaust nizzole thats my dad he worked on them, so that was neet talking to him about the A/C and the old timers at the CAF. I had a great time.
Where was the hanger with the B-25 in it? I saw the other B-25 parked outside, but didn’t see the one in the pics. In the hanger where the models were were an F-4, TBF, and a bunch of Migs - but no B-25. I’d really like to know where it was hidden. . … .
Thanks!
It was in the onther hanger buy the bathrooms right buy the mini P-47.
I remember the mini P-47, but I didn’t realize there was another hanger there. My brother was telling me that there was another B-25 that was susally parked down by Anzio’s Landing - we drove down there but it was gone - we assumed it had been taken over to the Goodyear show.
Darn, guess I’ll have to make another trip the CAF museum to see what I missed. What a chore![:)]
BTW - this was my first time to enter a contest, and I also got a bronze 3rd place medal. You don’t have a picture of it in your set, but mine was the F4F Wildcat on Henderson field display.
The one with the little 55 gallon drums on it? Where you askin if it was considerd a diorama and becouse it didnt have five figures on it it wasnt?
Yup - that was the one. As this was my first contest, I wasn’t sure what was considered a diorama and what wasn’t.
I was sitting at the table filling out my paper work i had a white hat on with a pair of okleys on the hat. your about 5ft11in and thin right?
Uhm, no. Try 6 feet and very fat and nearly bald and that would be me.[:D] This was my entry:
Ok so i got the height close[:D]. Yep i seen it when i was takin pics, there was a hole bunch of people over by it. And shoot i didnt evan think id win anything. congrates on your win.
Next year, I say we all wear nametags with our callnames on them…I must have been rubbing shoulders with all of you, and not knowing it!
Re: F-23 yep, seven layers of custom made decals…almost drove my eyes nuts.
That sounds like a good idea man. Hay cthulhu77 that was a real good build i liked that camo.
RE; F-23
my favourite bystander comment was:
“It looks like they parked the plane in diarrhea”
Ah well. What can you do! I thought most of the criticisms of the pieces were fair, there were a few jms’s about, but most of the people offered nothing but helpful facts. How did you like the Taube diorama? I was almost speechless…
[:D]LOL And Yes that was a cool dio, leave it up to the doctors huh.
