Model appropriate music.

Does anyone else listen to the music that kinda ‘gels’ with what they are building?

I must confess to listening to a lot of Glenn Miller when I build a B17 or B24/B29 or anything U.S.A. WWII

Also Vera Lynn when I build a Spitfire or a Hurricane, Lancaster etc

Good thing I dont build much Axis armour. Havent got much in the way of German marching music.

For me it just ties in with the historical aspects of the hobby.

I have to say that my musical choices depend on what stage of the process I’m in.

Well, for Luftwaffe subjects then Aces High March from the battle of Britian would be appropriate.

Music can bother me while building,I prefer guiet or talk radio on low volume.

Anything playing on JJJ or streaming on my media server, be it Hunters & Collectors, Vivaldi, Hilltop Hoods, Lorde etc etc etc. Just not stupid rap!

I find that I need something to listen to or I start talking to myself, it dosent matter what.

I converted all of my albums in to digital media and then copied them onto my Ipod. It is set to play back in the shuffle mode so I can be listening to Willie Nelson one minute and then a christmas song. Nothing like singing Winter Wonder Land when it’s 103’ in San Antonio.

What is this iPod device you speak of?

Hi Wirraway !

Now being as how you ask . Here goes .The High and the Mighty soundtrack . From the days when prop liners were King .

Flight of the Valkiyries when building anything from the " Nam " . Military and Sea Chanties when doing those things . And last but not last . Glenn Miller and yes , Lawrence Welk and the Grand Ole Opera when building cars and trucks . T.B.

Aw C,mon Mark !

Why not the Texas Troubador when building ? Me , It’s The " Man in Black " himself and his buddies , Willie , Waylon and Merle . LOL.LOL. T.B.

Cockles warm remembering building all those “slap togethers” 1963-65 to contemporary British Invasion tunes & U.S. sound alikes particularly in inclement weather, daytime talk radio is what I’ve been building by for decades now. Ambient noise also works when calm is needed for difficult building subjects.

Baseball

A perfect backdrop

Now Doc you know that a man cannot live on bread alone. You gotten expeience the other things in life. Otherwise how are you gona know?

Silence for me when working on my models.

I don’t listen to music when I build models, prefer silence. But if I were to during those German or Russian builds… Horst Wessel Lied, Panzerlied, Kalinka, or USSR anthem.

Most of the time, it’s the local classical station. Othewise it’s a conglomeration of '50s, '60s, and opera music. Just started building Armour recently and as Kien said, Panzerlied and a few other German marches are great ones to start with. Having had two years of German in H.S., I attempt to sing along with them.

P.S. Wonder why the neighbors all keep their windows closed.[;)]

Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, or Dixieland jazz.

Being a “metal head”, I usually have Pandora radio on (mostly “power metal”…sometimes 50’s-60’s “oldies”)

Most “fitting” for modeling tiny war machines…I’d have to say Sabaton. Great metal, out of Sweden. 95% of their songs tell the tales of battles/wars throughout history…from Sparta right on up to the Gulf. Highly recommended for any and all into hard rock/metal!

Fermis - Sabaton puts on a great show! Seen them a couple of times. I’m a metal head also - big fan of Arch Enemy & Once Human but I will sometimes listen to Klingon Opera while I tinker.

Hello!

I mostly listen to the radio, but sometimes their musical choices or ads start to bother me. There used to be an internet radio station that used to play Vietnam-era music from the sixties with real AFVN infomercial clips pasted in - that was great. But unfortunately they have taken it down due to some chane in the US law. It was called 1stCavMedic, created by a vet that died due to cancer some 10 years ago, but his wife hept this station active as a memorial.

When I listen to MP3s, it’s mostly blues (very good music for modelling!), rocksteady (pre-Reggae), dixieland or some classic Rock and Roll. Like already said - Johnny Cash is great. Jimi Hendrix also has a lot to say. And check out something entirely different - this clip just played and inspired me to write this post: Jamesie and the Happy 7. It’s a band from the US Virgin Islands. That music feels like concentrated tropical sun!

Thanks for reading and have a nice day
