Today is Memorial Day in the US. This is the day to honor all of the fallen men and women who gave all for the freedoms that we enjoy.
Today I am rewatching as much of the great series, Band of Brothers, as I can squeeze in. I am curious about something for those who might know - why were all the C-47s designated with the same L4 marking at the nose? I would have thought there would be a unique number to identify specific aircraft?

Yup, the L4 markings are the squadron codes. Individual aircraft identification letters are worn on the tail.
Today on memorial day, I celebrated by finally scheduling a call with a colonel and his wife to talk about military careers. They were really helpful and I loved how they did not try to recruit me but answered all of my questions and provided good insights. Not convinced to join up, but still keeping it open as an option.
