Long upcoming weekend

I hope everyone has a chance to enjoy this Memorial Day weekend. Enjoying spending time with family and friends, cooking out, and maybe, just maybe able to sneak away for some modeling. For those that sacrificed all, :united_states::saluting_face:

The local community has a parade that we always attend followed by a "party in the park’ with live music and various vendors. It makes for a fun day.
On a more somber note, I’ll reminisce about my Dad, a WW2 pilot and my Uncle WW2 pilot, Korean war pilot & Viet Nam pilot (one war too many, he was shot down and died in Viet Nam)

Much respect and admiration to all soldiers, sailors & airmen who gave up their lives fighting for this country.

Cheers,
C.

Sorry. Accidentally posted this in the wrong thread. I went to Carb Day at the Indy 500 today. It was amazing! Tomorrow the wife has a hair appointment and I hope to finish planting the garden. Sunday is church.:innocent: Monday we have a BBQ at the park with our church congregation. I’m hoping to fit some modeling in there somewhere…

Nothing special for me this weekend. Just going to stay home, be lazy, and relax. Well, I’ll probably go out to a used book/DVD store and try to find some DVD movies to buy and binge watch this weekend. Other than that, just continue working on a large 1/350 scale aircraft carrier model project.

Not a long weekend here in Canada, but last weekend was Victoria Day long weekend. That said I spent last weekend flying to Seoul and back a day later. Tomorrow (Saturday) I head off to Tokyo for one night, back Monday night. If we land on time there is a chance I can get to the local hobby shop about 1 hour before they close.. Might be hard on my wallet though.

Ooooof - that’s a tough travel schedule. I travel 6-8 times a year on business and would like to reduce it. When I was in my 20s and 30s I really enjoyed travel - now… I just want to stay home with my wife, dog, cat and all my models.

Sounds like fun.How would you get stuff home, ship it? I would think kits might be too big,and are you able to fly with paints snd supplies.

@keavdog, you’re right, it can be tough. I usually do four crossings out and back per month, it can be over to Asia or to Europe. Most are 20-22 hours at destination before coming back home. A lot of lost sleep, but I only work a max of 16 days per month.

@Tojo72, I don’t have the option of checking my bags, everything is carry on. Most destinations I am liquids exempt so as long as it isn’t flammable or considered a hazardous good, I can bring it with me. As for kits, I just have to make sure there is room in the flight deck for it to be securely stored for the trip. I do have to be careful if I buy tools as some of those aren’t allowed through security.

Having a friend over, and meeting up with a Colonel to discuss the life of a defense attaché.
I am also going to clean my room, there are books strewn about everywhere.

Just going to relax and spend some time with my family. Hopefully, I’ll get some modeling time in too. From my time as an E.M.T., be safe and and don’t drink & drive.
