My stash is mostly airplanes, some Star Wars and a single dinosaur. More than 100 but less than 200.
These are all stored in my garage in three separate areas. I keep all the instructions and decals in binders in my bedroom closet.

Last of the gunfighters! Great model.
Well, here’s my stash, which includes my work space. Not much of a stash, but what I have makes me happy. Not everything (not even close!) but quite a few of these models have a specific meaning to me besides just “I like that!” For example, the B-25J will likely be built as the Yellow Rose, which I used to help work on as a kid. I need to develop my decal-printing skills to pull some of these off, but I have time, hopefully!
Where did you get your paint booth?
I just thinned out my stash and now have around 30-40 kits. At one time I was at 100+ and it was a lot of stress in determining what my next build was going to be amidst all of these newer kits that are coming out. I made a good amount of money in thinning out. There was stuff in there that I would’ve never built so I had to get real with things a bit.
I’ve been in recovery now for the past 12 years almost and this couldn’t be more true for me. Thanks for sharing that Ernie.
Where did you get your paint booth?
I built it myself. Everything I saw available commercially was either stupid expensive or so tiny that it wouldn’t hold a 1/72 PBY Catalina wing. I designed it to utilize two 40"x60" sheets of 1/4" foam core board, the face edges are triangle-shaped to provide rigidity and the whole thing is duct-taped together at the seams. There are two “muffin” fans behind the filter that draw air into the booth and exhaust upwards. The opening is too large to meet any sort of “official” velocity requirement for air flow, but the fans work well enough to capture overspray and (mostly) keep fumes away from me…I mostly just use acrylics, though, so fumes aren’t really the primary purpose. The stripes you see inside are LED strips, so I have A LOT of light in there. Rheostats are mounted on the left side, so I can adjust air flow or dim the lights.
If you’re interested, I can scan my hand-drawn (scale) plans, but it’s a pretty basic design!
I built one myself from a large uhaul box. I used a bathroom exhaust fan. It’s adequate for what I need. I’m more interested in the fans and the LED lighting that you have.
Had to go dig through the records!
The fans are AC Infinity AXIAL S1238Ds, and the LED lights are “Lepro” (generic, as far as I cared) 2835-type 6000K “daylight white” strip lights, 300 LEDs, 16.4’ long. I bought some elbows and T-junctions to get the overall coverage that I wanted, that’s why the “2835” is important.
Both were purchased via the Bezos megamall, since we were in the middle of “don’t leave the house” when I decided to build the booth. ASINs are:
Mine are all up in the attic in totes. I took inventory during the super bowl ( packers fan so I didn’t care to watch) I have 97 kits up there in total a little of everything. I guess I need to get building.
I’m getting worried. I have over 150 kits in my stash with 4 orders coming from oldmodelkits.com.
I might need a support group!
Good new is my project is finishing early and should be able to get back to building before the end of the month. Which means I can start posting my work!
Are you worried that you don’t have enough kits in the stash? That’s my fear. That I’ll run out.
I thought for the longest time that if I didn’t snag a kit up that it wouldn’t be there when I got ready to build it. With the way 3D printing is these days and with model manufacturers kicking out all of these remarkable kits and subjects, my mindset has changed somewhat.
When I started back into the hobby about 4 years ago I had about 10 kits I’d been hauling around for nearly 30 years.
I had same mindset and because of it I am now the proud owner of about 130 kits. Around 40 of those kits are intended to go into the making of 6 different dioramas/scenes that have been stewing in the back of my mind.
I’m shifting away from collecting and focusing on building. I’d like to avoid having kits I never get to.
This describes my mindset exactly nowadays Johann.
This is about what I have, not including small boxes of accessories. Sorry about the blurriness of any pics.
