Thanks for taking this over John
The Seahawk looks really nice TJ, i do like those Suez markings.
There now follows a crossover comment with the “movie one-liners” thread -
“I have got to get me one of these!” (Will Smith, Independence day).
That’s a lovely job and a smashing little Seahawk, [:)]
Thanks everyone. Its a good little kit.
Thanks for picking this up John. Has anyone heard what happened to lewbud?
Mr Eatons idea because I posted too quickly and stole the spot. Happy to help in our dear friend lewbuds absence.
Thats terrible, I missed that post somehow.
RIP Buddy!
Bish, the Stuka looks great, a bit shiny though!
TJ, very nice finish on the Sea Hawk, very clean lines, a pretty scheme and fancied up with the Suez stripes makes for an attractive aircraft.
The Vengeance is slowly coming together. It has been filled, sanded, repeated before priming and preshading. As you can see, I can’t airbrush a straight line…
Then I got to do the underside in grey
Some progress on the SBD
I’m very sad to hear about Lewbud’s passing. His weekend madness gb drew me back to this site after a long hiatus. I remember Lewbud from when I was more active on this site some 10 years ago.
Anyway, glad you all are picking up the slack and carrying on in his honor.
I have been working on the Bregeut 693 but it has been a lot of putty, sand, repeat. This Heller kit is pretty rough but I am plugging away.
I too was sorry to hear about Lewbud. I have been a lurker on this site for many years but only recently started posting so I never interacted with him but from I have read he seemed like a great guy.
A lot of great work on this GB, I need to be more consistent on posting comments about all these fantastic builds.
I was able to get my Razorback done this last month but only now getting around to posting some pics. I knocked the front windscreen off and had to reset it, after looking at it closer I will need to go back and clean that up a bit. The decals were okay considering the were Academy
JBRaider, Very nice P-47 & impressive checker work; however, I don’t see you on the roster?
Really trying to decide on something to build for this GB… I need something very simple and fun… I’v been on a vintage kit kick lately and have been eyeing an Airfix Fw190D-9 on eBay and an Airfix A-7Corsair (The 190 comes with a single 500 kg bomb, so I am good ). Also, have an MPC F-111 Ardvark that just came in the mail; however, it’s sill in shrink wrap and has a price tag of $3 on it and I just can bring my self to open it [:$]. I may hae to aquire a ‘builder’ for that one…
Airfix skyraid is also another option. Would love to brush paint some SEA cammo :-D. If Cracal would only downsize their new skyraider sheet to the proper scale…
I love that P-47, JBRaider, the black & yellow chequerboard is outstanding - great work.
Great looking builds guys!
A little more glacial movement on my Frog, but hopefully most of the intricate detailing and mods are behind me now.
Got the avionics bays finished…
and got a solution figured out for the canvas “bags” inside the foot steps. I wanted the box that will contain the putty to be made out of styrene so I could use Tamiya Extra Thin to attach it to the inside of the fuselage and not have to worry about it ever coming loose and being hopelessly trapped inside, laying in the bottom of the fuselage for all eternity. Had one prototype that didn’t quite work, but the second attempt was a keeper. Just waiting for the putty (this time I used Apoxie Clay) to harden completely, then I’ll prime and paint it. Used a dental excavator to dig out the holes in the putty after scribing their outlines with a toothpick.
The styrene box has a nice, tight fit around the sunken area where the steps are, and doesn’t interfere with installation of the nose gear well. It should permanently cement into place nicely.
Thats a very nice looking P-47 there JB.
That pit is coming along nicely castel, looking good.
Well, after a flurry of activity the A-10 Warthog is DONE! BTW, John, thanks for taking over (RIP Lewbud), you can use the first picture in this sequence for the front page. Final reveal here:
