kit suggestions

Im looking at me262s has anybody built the revell kit and also dose anybody know about Pegasus hobbies ez snap line. Also im looking at A-37 kits which one would be a better build the academy or the hase and what would be needed to turn it to a t-37. Thanks for any input in advance

I built the Revell (originally Monogram) kit many years back. It builds up VERY nice and is certainly worth the cost. There is another thread on here about Pegasus kits, so have a look for it. I have seen several of those kits bult up and in my view, they are great simple kits that should not be looked down upon just becuase they are “snap tite”. They can be built up QUITE well! I built the Hasegawa Tweety way back when I used to build 72nd scale ages ago, but do not recall anything about that kit. The Academy kit I am pretty sure is a more recent modling so it will be a generation or more ahead in molding technology. As far as differences to make a trainer out of the attack bird you would need to leave off the minigun fairing, the wing pylons, the refueling probe, and the wing tip tanks at the very least. I think the main difference beyond those between the two is internal, with the engines and survival systems.

If you haven’t already bought an Me-262 kit, the Tamiya 1/48th scale kit of that is outstanding! If you watch for the Hobby Lobby 40%-off coupon, you can get one for around $20…

Does Hobby Lobby carry that kit?

Not in my area

That’s where I got mine a few years ago. I guess it depends on the Hobby Lobby, though. I’ve been to one in Georgia that carries different Tamiya kits than the one I frequent here in North Carolina. Same for another one in Alabama that I used to visit when I traveled through a little town there. They all carried pretty much the same brands, just different kits.

That makes sense. We just got one locally here a bit over a year ago. I have no idea where the next closest one is and what any differences there are between them in stock. I did get my Ventura there on the 40% off…

My hobby lobby only carries revell aircraft one minicraft one lindberg an two amt and rest auto and a couple ships and couple armor

Wow. I can’t say that I’ve been to a Hobby Lobby that didn’t carry at least a few Tamiya kits. I’ve seen 1/72nd & 1/48th Tamiya stuff, along with many, many Revell/Monogram kits, some Academy (I actually bought three 1/48th Academy CH-53E kits for $33 each a few years back at a Hobby Lobby in Carrollton, GA!! Some one messed up on the pricing, and of course I took advantage of that…), some Minicraft, a few kits of an obscure Chinese brand that I don’t recall the name of, Snap-Tite kits, and some prebuilt/pre-painted kits. I have noticed that most Hobby Lobbies are concentrating more on automotive kits lately. I guess because that’s where they believe more interest in modeling lies (but that’s just my assumption). If you make it to another town with a Hobby Lobby, stop in there and see what they have. I’m sure that you’ll fins different stuff than what your local one carries.

I am busy with the Tamiya 1/48 262 bomber version and it is just outstanding. The fit and detail is very nice.

Some folk might want to go and buy AM slats for it, but I have seen pix of real 262’s with the slats pushed up by the ground crew, most likely to keep dirt out the rails, so I do not think it is “un scale”

As for the Revell 1/72 262 night fighter I really found it a easy well detailed little model, the antenna detail might be a little thinner but still very cool with exelent decals

Here is my revell 262

If you wanted to go bigger. I saw the Trumpeter 1/32 262 and it looks like a really nice one aswell, seperate flals and slats.

Theuns

Yes, the local Hobby Lobby has more cars than all other types of kits combined. But they do have the Academy 1/35 AH-60 DAP (a misnomer on their part- it’s a MH-60) that I keep eyebaling with the 40% off e coupon in my phone… yes daddy wants one…

The 1/48 revell b29 keeps teasing me everytime

At 40% off that should be most tempting…

Great job on that Swallow, Theuns! Impressive.

Well, you know the old saying: “If Daddy ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy”… wait, that’s not about daddies, is it? What the heck…I’m sure your wife will understand, especially if you get it 40% off… You have everyone’s permission to go buy it!

It’s unfortunate that Hobby Lobby has shrunk their plastics selection to anemic proportions except for cars. When I lived in Greenville SC, the one store there had a very nice selection and even carried the 1/72 Gato and Type VII/C for around $100 ($60 with the 40% disc coupon) For some unknown reason they started to get rid of the aircraft kits. I have been to a few and their stock is about the same.

Listen to the Dawg. The Tamiya kit is tough to beat. If even can be.

Here’s a link to the one I built a few years back.

Wing nut thats things amazing hard to believe its a model. I went with revells 1/48th offering @ 12 bucks from hobby lobby my lhs didnt have the tamiya kit on a side note anybody ever feel guilty or unpatriotic for building axis war planes this is my first non allied ac

No, IMO we are modeling machines some of which were ahead of their times. If it appeals to me then I build it.

Wingnut, that is great-looking Swallow! Great job on it.

pws73703, dittos to what plasticjunkie said - nothing to feel guilty about at all. We’re modeling a part of history. Feel privileged that we live in a country where we’re able to do that, when we want, and how we want.
