That’s so true. Like the P-47 this was one rugged plane. A very robust, purpose designed aircraft that, allied fighters notwithstanding, could absorb a lot of punishment and still get the aircrew back in one piece. Even without the luxury of redundant controls and titanium cockpits this thing was a survivor![blkeye]
First time I saw a pic of a person standing by a Stuka (which was very recently) I was shocked.
Bish, I’m finding that spinner decals are not my favorite thing. That one of yours looks very difficult to deal with. You did good.
Scott: Some lovely looking detail work on your cockpit!
Ajd: Good call on that floor extension! I really like what you did with that old monogram cockpit!
Bish: That cute lil’ Stuka keeps looking better and better each update!
Stukas really are huge planes, that’s for sure! Did I mention i have a weakness for those huge and “ugly” aircraft designs?
I have to say the most difficult thing about this Monogram Stuka so far is trying to get the horizontal stablizer and struts all lined up correctly. Either the left one is a wee bit too short, or the right is a wee bit too long. I’ve been trying to get it right for half an hoir, and I swear everytime I touch it, it just gets worse. Grrrrr
Can’t say I have much patience with situations like that. If you haven’t thrown anything in a half hour, my hat is off to you, sir. [:)]
I don’t mean to be starting anything here but…Bish are you gonna take that?? lol
Stuka’s are beauties man!!! [:D]
O don’t worry, it hadn’t gone un noticed. I was just getting the boys together to go and pay a visit.
They are now on route
LOL
Don’t worry about me, Joe. You should rather worry about those poor Stukas instead…
I’ll just fight fire with more fire, or in this case huge ass planes with even bigger ones!
And in case you lads haven’t noticed I’ll explain a very important detail while this battle is unfolding:
I put the word “ugly” in quotation marks for a very good reason. I love those huge, not-so-streamlined aircraft and think they all look very sexy. There are however some unworthy people that say a Stuka or any plane with a radial engine (no pointy nose) doesn’t deserve to be called sexy or elegant. I actually like radial powered planes a whole lot more than their inline counterparts…
Been awol for a while and I’m getting back to building Nice to see that there has been some nice things going on in here.
I was looking at the wheels and was wondering what color they should be. Building a B-1 with the standard 71/70 splinter.
Now how did that come out so blurry? I’ll try that again later. The color is there though.
Good to see you back 68. One modelling book I have suggests for German tires, Tamiya XF-63 German grey as German tires were more grey due I think to the lower rubber content. I used it for a bit but wasn’t keen. So now I use Tamiya NATO Black or tire black and then dry brush with dark grey.
The Fujimi instructions call for RLM 65 on the wheels and I thought that couldn’t be right.
On the wheels, or the wheel spats.
Edit: or do you mean the wheel hub.
I was sitting here wondering the same thing. Bish beat me to it.
Welcome back, 68!
Here is where I left off and was thinking of ramping things up by building a few other Ju87Bs in unison.
I was talking about the actual wheel or wheel hub on the color. I can see in the picture that it is not that far off from the tires.
Yeah just a weathered black is really all it is. The tires I usually go with a little gray added to the black so theres plenty of contrast. Works for me.[H]
Was working on the kit while an afternoon monsoon was passing through here in Tucson when I heard a loud thump against the house. And boy was I surprised [st]
Can’t use the front door right now but looks like there’s no damaged to the house or truck. I dodged the bullet on this one. One nice thing about renting…I call the Management Group to bring in a tree removal crew to take care of the problem.
