Ju-52

thank you toshi up and about early this morning I hope all is going well with you and your family,

Your thread sparked some memories for me. Back in the late 70s, I had the opportunity to fly in Martin Caidin’s JU-52, “Iron Annie” over at Space Center Executive Airport in Titusville during a CAF airshow. I was a member of the CAF Florida wing at the time.

thanks for the nice pic I was going to add the yellow but went with the camo color.

Question ;

Are there any interior details besides the cockpit ?

no its an empty shell.

well my ju 52 decals never showed up had to cancel the order. I am using airfx kit decals lets see what happens

finished with decals side windows in started with clear flat

I masked the canopy tricky spots with poster tack and squared it off with putty knife. Painted with tamiya deep green and removed mask should clean up nicely with a tooth pick. some little stuff left to do on this old airfix kit.

Im done this is as far as I can go with this old airfix kit .I used tamiya paints though the build except the wash I used mm flat black and gray/black chalk for exhuast and stains. thank you for your comments and for watching.

Well done, Sir! Very nice work. And I agree with the others, that splinter camo paint over the corrogated surface could not have been fun. Excellent work.

BK

BK thank you I was going to use AK interative paints but I switched to tamiya acrylics .I was very happy with the camo thin coats with zero bleed under the mask. My next prodject I will use the ak paints or try to.

The only thing I can suggest is when your painting your canopy is to start off painting the first coat on the canopy the interior color of the fuselage then a layer of Black and then a layer of the same primer you used on the plane itself the lastly the green color. That way you will get the illusion of a solid frame around the window panes and eliminate and transparency of the paint. Just my 2 cents worth. You have more guts than me to tackle hard edge camo on a corrogated surface, great job

John

John thank you. I didnt know if the masking would left up with the acrylic and the airfix canopy didnt have any framing yes I know excuses ! lol but always room for improvement.

I know what you mean, I’m always afraid something is going lift off especially on the canopies or leak under! Or lately the darn decal sticks to the very end of the tweezer and won’t come off! with out wrecking it of course.

John

Been there with the lifting off…numerous times.

Sorry for not being here to watch this beauty come together Nick. Good show man!!!

mastang is all good. thanks for those kind words! I hope all is well with you.

It’s going better it seems like these days. I’ve got a little more time at the bench so that’s always a plus you know. [;)]

Don’t know how I missed this one Nick! I like the bluetac masking trick, very cool. She is looking very elegant! [B]

PJ thank you that stuff cleans up real good. I had a hard time with the tape .

I cut triangles little squares tried the thin strips of tape that row just wouldnt cooperate untill poster tack.

hey that Dora is painting up nice like the motteling thinned paint low air?

Once again proving Morrison’s Third Law.

Seriously, that is some excellent painting and masking work, Nick
