Me thinks “Peggy” is the winner!

I see a lot of masking in your future!

That is a sleek looking aircraft, in a time when many bombers were not. I’ve never seen it before.

I look forward to seeing your progress on this.

Hi all. New here. Do I have to “sign up” or just dive in? I recently REALLY got into Japanese stuff. Bought a kit from a friend in my club and, when I brought the finished model to show him, I learned he had passed away unexpectedly. Bought more kits from his stash and it just snowballed from there. This group build really interests me and I’m excited to take part.

Welcome to our community Shawn. Poke around and ask lots of questions and share as you like. We love to see what you are up to.

And, I should add, I’m sorry to hear about your friend, working on their stash is a good way to honor and share their memory.

Welcome to the forum, Shawn! The group builds are lots of fun. Looking forward to you joining us and sharing your work.:slightly_smiling_face:

I found several pre-made masking sets for those 100 windows including my favorite, vinyl ones. So hopefully when I build that aircraft, they will still be available because, I HATE window masking.

Ditto, that green house up front would have me seeing double. :eyes:

For the group build, I am going to build the Mitsubishi F-2A in JASD livery by Hasegawa in 1:48 scale. It’s been ordered and should be here before the end of the month. I’m not sure if I’m sticking with strictly OOB or if I will add some AM parts.

Glad to have you on board Steven!

Hi ShawnShuler, Welcome to the forum! All you need to do is say "hey, I would like to join the Group Build and tell us what kit you will be building or if you don’t know yet you will be marked down as TBD (To Be Determined). I’ll put you down as TBD for now.

This is the kit that I will be building.

It is a 1967 release, so it is as old as I am. I bought it on eBay when I found it for a decent price (these have gone for some ridiculous prices). It was still in the original cellophane wrapping. I had hoped that meant the decals would be in good shape, not being exposed to any air other than what was already in the box, but alas, there was a big gash along one side of the box. The decals MIGHT be usable, but they look bad beyond the age-induced yellowing.

I grabbed a Montex Mask paint set to do the markings. I’m not sure if that will include the aircraft placard that one typically found on the fuselage near the stabilizers, but everything else will be there and done in paint. I also picked up a set of 3D decals for the seat belts. Next on my list is to get some paint appropriate for Japanese aircraft that I don’t already have, and I’ll be good to go sometime in January.

Oh, I should be able to enter this one. I probably won’t be very original, I have a Eduard a6m2 type 21 in the stash. I think it may finally be time to tackle it.

Just in case I’ll keep an eye out for something different though. You know, for the sake of diversity.

I’m going to try to get the Val across the line for 2025 build - but it’s looking tough. I may roll that build over to the 2026 GB

Sweet! Gotta love that old box art!

Originality is not required. I love a good A6M build – one of my favorite j-aircraft. I’ll add you to the roster. Welcome to the GB!

Sign me up, but so far I’m a TBD. I’ll have to take a look at the stash.
