That’s a great looking cockpit for 1/72 Zvezda1980. Very nice detail painting.
The F-2 is the step child of the F-16. Designed by Mitsubishi with help from Lockheed. It is slightly larger then the F-16 most noticeably in the wings, horizontal stabs, and the canopy. I just like that sea camouflage color combo.
It’s that sea camouflage that got me. I have a couple of non-Japanese builds I want to finish, and then I’m going to focus on my sea camouflage F-4EJ Kai Phantom. And I might even build an RF-4E in sea camouflage too. The Japanese may have been rather monotone during the war, but post war they have some of the most interesting and beautiful designs out there.

Looking great so far!
Greg the F-2 rocks! I Absolutely adore the load out
Geez that looks freaking awesome! How are you finding how this kit builds up?
Made some progress on the Tamiya A6M5. I need to put the decals on the panel, flat coat it and then Future the lenses. Then I can install the 'Office; and move forward, The way this kit is setting up, it won’t long before I’m ready to throw paint at her.
Here are the progress pictures so far.
Cheers,

Thats a well done cockpit, especially one that is so dark.
The only annoying thing about the kit is the way the parts attached to the Sprue and cleaning the parts up. I’m used to only having to clean up one surface of a part, but on this kit, you have to clean up two sides of the part usually. Maybe this is just a side effect of the way kits are molded these days but it’s a little annoying… also, the location of the Sprue attachment points could’ve used a little more thought. Some are smack on top of nice detail. Others are right on top of locator pins. don’t misunderstand me this is an excellent kit, but parts of it have more of a short run feel than a Tamiya feel.
I got you. I ran into that building the 1:48 scale PZL-11C. I terrific model but there were parts that didn’t seem to be thought out all the way. In the scheme of things it’s a nitpicking, but we are nitpickers by our very nature aren’t we?
Love watching this coming together!
Cheers

Making significant progress.
Agree . Excellent cockpit on the A6M!
That is SWEET! love the “jig” too. Probably works better than and fancy online one too!
Cockpit is done on the Tamiya A6M5. I just need to add the belts and seat cushion and then it’s going into the fuselage tonight. Wings and tail are waiting to it’s a good bet I’ll have the whole airframe done as well…maybe. This kit is pretty much falling together so who knows.
Thanks again and
cheers everybody!
I want to join! I’ll be building Hasegawa’s 1/48 B5N2 Kate (after I’m done with my Do 335).
It’s this boxing (photo from Plaza Japan, I still haven’t taken my own).
That’s great @Sturmovik, glad to have you. I have added you to the roster.
Great cockpit and photos Freddie!
This is an absolute WINNER of a kit to build. Could be close to being of Hasegawa’s best ever. Excellent detail and fit and the markings are great! Enjoy the ride man!
Cheers!
