That’s too bad @Gregbbear . Little issues like that can put a damper on a build for sure, but I know you will pull this one out. Looking forward to the finished product.
If the forum contacts me - no sure thing - I’ll contribute a 1/48 Hasegawa Ki-43 Oscar I.
Eric
I was looking at a pair of hasegawa mitsubishis I have, an F-1 and T-2, and the decals are most likely not useable. Does anyone know if anyone made any aftermarket ones? Or an issue that comes with multiple sets, like hasegawa sometimes does? These kits have been around forever, so I was surprised that there was nothing on eBay even.
As for the F-2A, decals are coming along, I should have some progress photos this weekend.
Greg
This post worked, you should be good to go!
So, as I had mentioned, I am doing a “replacement” build of the F1M2 lost in a display case mishap a few years ago. I’m using the same Hasegawa kit and the lessons learned from the first build to hopefully built it up better than the first time.
First two pictures are before clearcoats and decals and the second two are after decals and before weathering. I have since weathered her, and have begun the PE, (Ugh!!) I hope to have those pictures up soon. Moving quickly through this build. It’s a terrific model, probably one of Hasegawa’s best ever, and I highly recommend it!
Thanks for looking and remember, So many models, so little time…!
I hit the ground running and have have made steady and quick progress. Model is pretty much built and now it’s on to the PE and fiddley bits.
Once the “Pete” is finished, I would like to get going on another Hasegawa kit, a Nakajima Ki-44, “Tojo”. Markings to be decided, but I am really liking a machine from the 85th Sentai, sporting an awesome looking green and brown mottling over NMF.
The Pete is looking really nice!
Ok, I am going to do hasegawa 1/48 type 97 motorcycle with sidecar. Gonna be really small.
Finally made some progress, weather has been very uncooperative.
Thanks!! So far it’s moving fast!
Nice work on the Pete. Used to have that lot but sold it a long time ago.
I managed to get most of the weathering done on the “Pete”. I still have some touching up to do but it’s on the back stretch now and should be done over the weekend.
Top wing is still just placed for pictures as there is a lot to work on that is WAY easier without the airfoil in the way. I also need to remove that piece of foam I used for masking from the front cockpit, which can easily be seen in picture number four, (What a maroon…).
After this I’ll hit that “Tojo”, because I like the way the camo scheme looks in my head, and I hope I can translate it onto the model.
Thanks for looking guys and I hope to see more of all of your great work as the GB progresses.
You are moving fast! And it looks great too. I’m snails pace with mediocre results!
In between working on the F-2A, I have done a little bit here and there on my Hasegawa Phantom. I used some eduard photoetch and a little wiring in the cockpit. It needs some primer and then a rescribe of lost detail.
I’m working an extra 24 hour shift today, but hopefully tomorrow evening I can make more decal progress on the F-2A. It is such a good looking aircraft and paint scheme. Hopefully, when I flat coat it, it will smooth out my botched gloss coat. This will be my first completion since 2020, so there has been a lot of learning and re-learning. Really glad to be here!
Greg
@fjs3 , you Pete is looking excellent. Look forward to seeing the finished item. Is there any rigging on this kit? That always scares me off from building biplanes ![]()
Hi @EBergerud , Not sure what you mean? You were able to post right? ![]()
I’ll add you to the roster. Welcome aboard. Look forward to seeing your Oscar build!
Glad to be aboard. I contributed to FSM Group Builds for years and then about four years back all forums ceased to function for me - but this one looks like it’s functioning properly. Sooooo… As soon as I get a Eduard Fokker DVII put to bed - maybe a week or two - I’ll crack open the Hasegawa Oscar. In the meantime I’ll check the other posts in this thread. Thanks much.
Eric
She’s comin along nicely! Looking forward to the next update.
Thanks, and it does have a fret of stainless steel PE, WHICH, is incredibly easy to use. I used to stay away from biplanes for the same reason; rigging freaked me out. The rigging came in the box as part of the kit so it is still considered an OOB entry. I attached the wing last night and that is where I am at with the build. Hopefully that will happen tonight…fingers crossed…
Got some work done on a very dusty Type-61 this morning.
Parts of this kit date back to 1970 so it lacks the finesse of later Tamiya kits. This is also a very recent reissue so the molds are really showing age.
My current goal on this kit is to clean up the gun barrel.
That’s looking great @GreySnake01 . Nothing wrong with a dusty tank right?
