@dadoffour unfortunately the commander is molded like he drank too much sake.
@Zvezda1980 thank you and nice work on the Zero.

Might have to join in with a basic Tamiya Type 97. Already decided it’d be my first kit with aftermarket bits (Eduard photoetch set and some cheapo tracks i’ll be getting eventually on ebay)
If only I could have multiple entries! I have 3 other Japanese planes in my stash with a tank incoming and a desire to hopefully build many Japanese naval ships.
I’ll start on it once my PE set arrives from Poland.
I doubt I’d be able to compare with any of these builds but it should definitely be fun!
Is there a rule that says you can’t? I say go for it! You could make a nice diorama with those kits!
Shoot it’d be mighty tempting later in the year. Planning on hopefully making the Takom O-I for a local autumn model event. Still haven’t really decided what color scheme I want to do with that one. Seems like the perfect canvas for a weird camo scheme since, to my knowledge, Japanese armor camos weren’t really standardized.
(Realistically I’ll drop the hobby and move onto something else like I’m prone to doing, but a man can dream LOL)
But for now I shall be content with doing just a Type 97!
Don’t get me started on other things I’d like to make!
Great to have you on board @Monsoonium. I will add you to the roster!
First an apology, the kit is a 1/48 Fujimi A6M2 Type21 not the Otaki offering. Did a little detailing to the interior. The seat was thinned, with belts and holes added. The bulkhead also received holes along with the cable adjusting mechanism for the seat. Throttle levers were fabricated from hard wire and paint. Additional wiring and piping was also added using lead wire. Machine guns were lengthened and arming levers were added with new barrels fashioned from aluminum tubing. The cowl above the machine guns was also thinned down. Painting was done with Valejo arcrylics. A pin wash and filter were also applied.
Your cockpit looks great @Mobious. This is the first time I have seen the Fujimi kit build so this should be interesting!
I was surprised by the fit of this kit. The wings fit great. There is alot of exterior detail including rivet detail. It’s raised rather than recessed. Not sure about that. The control surfaces have a fabric detail that is visible. The canopy only is offered in a closed position, but with a little work I should be able to open it up. I skipped the engine detailing because the cowling will be fixed and the viewing is greatly restricted. There are a couple of shallow marks on the fuselage that may need attention. Currently working on the landing gear. I’ll try to get a couple of pictures up in primer.
Excellent job on an older kit, love those sidewall details.
The instruction sheet is straightforward, but there are few color call outs. From what I have gathered there are interpreted deviations more so than luftwaffe. Picked up the new Eduard offering and have been using the painting guide for reference.
Just finished my entry. Will take better photos at a later date.
Ranger_Chris61, your Concord came out very well! I like the paint scheme very much. Let me know when you have a picture you want for the wall.
@Mobious it’s coming together nicely. It’s always a joy and a relief when you reach the last few steps of the model. Great work and way to overcome the model’s deficiencies!
That looks fabulous!
Very beautiful and menacing-looking!
That looks fun! Please share your progress!
Will do & Welcome Samphoto!
Your Zero is looking great @Mobious . Love the finish.
