Japanese aircraft group build.

Looking outstanding Richard. Anf who said goo dthings come in small packages, Bigger rocks too! I love the amount of detail you have in it!

hey Ritch looking great looks like it’s a bit of a beast sorta P-47ish cant wait to see it finished now if only i can get my pics up lol

Can’t wait ti see some decals Richard.

Well I finally got going on my “Irving”…Lots of clean up and, my personal favorite, filling injector holes. The CP’s full of them. Most you probably won’t see, but I’m going to try to get’m all. This cockpit is simply loaded with detail.

Cheers,

Jerry

Thanks for the nice words guys. Now for a real serious problem I ran into. When setting up to apply the decals the first one disintigrated while I was waiting for it to release from the backing. It was one of the upper wing decals and I have no 1/24 scale decals in my spares. I took the good one and scanned it into my computer and usiing Microsoft Publisher I was able to lay out and print all the decals I will need for this model. It will take three to five days for the ink to dry then a few overcoats and a couple of days for that to dry and then I will be able to continue on. So I will see you sometime next week with progress photos.

Richard

Sorry to here about your decals Richard, hope everything works out.

I’m now trying my first attempt at aotake coating. At the risk of exposing my age, I recall back in the 50’s, my brother had a metal toy truck that was made in Japan and had a very strange metallic bluish green coating. I just wonder if, in fact, it was aotake. Probably not, but it sure reminds me of it. After all, it was for anti corrosion. Anyhoo, the Gekko CP has alot of aotake, and I came up with a custom mix that looks pretty close to me. Will post pics soon.

Jerry

i mixed a little turquoise with some green then used it to tint some future then painted the interior aluminum when it was drt i used my aotake mix over that it came out pretty well

Hey guys…things are looking good. All of the planes I have seen are inspiring…in fact I was wondering if I could join in…this is until May 06 right?

I have a 1/48 Ki-84 Hayate (Frank) that has been sitting collecting dust that I would like to toss into the mix. Besided it would get me away from that horrible DeHaviland Venom project I have been working on.

What say you boss man?

Okay here are a couple of progress pics.

1st is in the midst of the weathering process

2nd is after wash is complete

Now to tackle that teeny tiny itsy bitsy 1/72 sale canopy [yuck]

Looks good cj…nice and dirty…looks like you’re on the home stretch.

Jerry

Looking good CJ. Well I was able to make my own decals so here are the finals.

Richard

RIchard,

Nice one sir. Looks like a crisp clean build, and I’m glad you sorted out your decal issues.

Quick question…the Yellow on the leading edge…decal or paint?[?]

Thanks CJ I was fortunate with the decals as I happened to have some white decal paper. The leading edge is paint.

Richard

Very very nice build Richard. That’s on fine addition to the GB. Thanks for the pics.

Jerry

Jerry,

Appreciate it. I am just glad everything came out allright.

Richard

Nice one Richard! I actually like it better than your zero for the Pearl Harbour GB (though both are excellent builds). [8D][tup]

Thanks Jay,

I must say the George was a much more difficuilt build than the Zeke but it was enjoyable doing both. I must admit the George is much more colorful as the IJN Zeke is a basic one color aircraft.

Richard

Richard, Nice looking George.

Thanks Waikong. I have had so much enjoyment with this group build and the Pearl Harbor group build that now that I have finished the three planes I have to find something else to build. The next GB I am in starts in November.

Richard

There’s a new SuperDetailed GB starting in Dec that I joined, maybbe you’ll be interested in that. I do agree, GB gives me great incentive to finish a kit & share the experience.

hey rich that george came out great btw if ya just want a fun lil build try my mirror/mirror gb not many have jumped in so i’m running it until DEC 2006
