I like them too. Most have pretty good detail and fit is descent. I like the separately molded handles, tie downs, all the fiddle stuff. They are generally pretty good, depends on the kit.
Mixed feelings with them. I’m working on their Chaffee kit and compared to Dragoon and the newest Trumpeter kits, their lacking in quality.
I generally like them, I just got the M4A3 76MM, it looks pretty good, some of their older kits can be had for a good price, and are a good start for conversion projects.
I grit my teeth when I build Italari helicopters. They have the only game in town in 1/48 Marine Cobras and Supercobras. Interiors are total garbage, rotors are molded backwards, but again, its my only game. Havent built thier armor kits but I hear good things about them. Some of their 1/72 helos are very nice.
Overall, I like them. They are reasonably priced, but lack the pe and am that comes with the latest Dragon kits. Their Sturmtiger is highly recommended from me. Used a bit of putty, but was impressed overall.
mixed aswell depend on the year they were made and which dumb@$$ wrote the instructions thier panther instructions are the worst (especialy on how the sideskirts go on). quality is mixed also.
Italeri, they’re not my favorites, but they are cheaper.
Well never built one
But i bought a Hummer Avenger kit , the detail looks great on it
there again the equvalent Tammy version of this is 4 times dearer
so on price it wins hands down
see how it builds up , I dare say you guys will know how right or wrong it actually is
being a fly boy thats just come over to the dark side i haven’t got a clue
I love them, especially when the make some of the more obscure kits like of the M-47
I like them because they make decent models for not a lot of money.
One thing I have noticed though is the formulation of their plastic, especially with the Zvezda kits - it seems quite “crumbly” and soft compared to Revell and Tamiya, and can sometimes mean that parts don’t come off the sprue cleanly, even with side cutters, and filing leaves you with strings of plastic still stuck to the part. But on the whole, they are great value for money.
I never tried one of their armor kits, but that’s only because I didn’t like their helicopter kits. They have more gaps than a hillbilly’s smile.
Chris
They are not too bad. The amphibian kits have been a bit of a challenge, the Buffalo, Alligator and such. The main hull is in several sections and they don’t line up great. Lots of putty and gap filling CA. But the only game in town for several subjects. The instructions are almost worth ignoring. Lots of mis-numbering and wrong sequence. The SWS & Goliath kit has a major mistake in the sequence for the assembly of the front suspension. Not sure if that has been corrected yet or not.
I’d say I like them too - neither “love” nor “hate” them. Quality is dicey depending on the time period their armor models were produced. Accuracy and engineering is about the same - dicey too. But, Italeri model kits are good to hone your model construction skills on, as this seems to be a waining emphasis in scale modeling in general. They don’t always buildup quick or easy - but when you get 'em together they’re pretty nice. Jim

You may want to read the following previous post regarding language and text used in the forum.
In light of recent events, I’d like to drop a reminder about using acceptable language when using the forums. Basically, this means no profanity whether overt or implied, even words that are common in everyday conversation these days. Doing things like using a “$” in place of an “S” in a particular word also does not elevate the profane to the world of the acceptable. Posts that contain profanity will be deleted or edited to purge the offending bits. Users who repeatedly violate the standards will be barred from the site. This may seem excessively strict, but we want to protect this forum’s polite, friendly, constructive tone. The real issue is the tone that swearing imparts to the discourse. When it becomes an unconscious part of one’s vocabulary, it basically makes one look, well, illiterate, as if you are merely using the words as placeholders for words that would actually say something comprehensible to your listeners/readers. Once swearing becomes a habitual part of somebody’s vocabulary, it too becomes meaningless. When you keep that language in reserve for extraordinary situations, as when something really bad happens, then you get some psychological release from using them. Anyway, the point is that people make their assessments of our intelligence by how we talk. And the language we use in print–including electronic print–makes an even more lasting impression on others. I don’t know about everybody else, but if people think I’m more intelligent than I really am, I’m not going to do anything that’ll change their minds! So lets keep things civil and keep the discourse clean. Michael Ellis |
as with all the kit makers you get good and bad
and what i think rots as a kit other people will say it is great and v-versa
It depends…generally, they are very cheap and nice kits…but I was very dissapointed with the HEMMT and the modern 2 ton truck, I thought it was better for the price they charge…but I love the Leopard 2A6, excellent alternative to the much expensive (but better) Tamiya kit.
cheers
ehh there okay I would rather build somthing form Tamiya, burt then again Italieri makes some things tamiya would never do
I only have one Italeri kit to my credit. The M113A1 APC. Detail was seriously lacking and somewhat inaccurate and the fit was pretty bad in a couple critical areas. It took a lot of work, scratchbuilding, and a couple after market sets to get it looking how I wanted. But I think it was one of their older kits. So I’d say it really depends on the kit, especially since their new 1/48 TBF-1 Avenger is a re-box of Accurate Miniatures new Avenger with the parts to back date it. And the Accurate Miniatures Avenger is an awesome kit, well engineered, accurate and a great fit.
I’ve built their DUKW and DUKW w/105mm and found them both to be enjoyable builds. Except for one joint on the DUKW, the fit was excellent. Detail on the kits wasn’t the greatest, but was good enough for me. Plus, the price was reasonable. I have one of their re-released deuce and a halfs in the stash now and am looking forward to starting it.
