Well I just got back from taking advantage of Hobby Lobby’s 50% off coupon. Got a pretty good loot and actually got a stockpile started. My wife though immediately laid claim to the amphibious jeep and U.S. half track. I think I have craeted a monster. Don’t know if I should be happy she wants to them or depressed that I don’t get to. Of coarse it does give me a reason to get them again. Well at least I still have the ones she did’nt want to do. She does keep on me about wanting to do a big tank. Any suggestions on which one would be good for someone that has not been building for to long so I can quite that bug in my ear?
What scale tank does she want to build?
Chris, to answer the question in your subject line: NO! This is NOT a bad thing. I would be so tickled pink if my wife was the least bit interested in modeling. I would be thrilled. I’d gladly buy her any kit, if she’d work on it. Be happy! Describe “big tank”. You mean 1/35, 1/16, or what? If 1/35th, I’d go with one of the newer Tamiya Tigers. I don’t think there’s another kit out there that goes together as well as they do, and they have good detail to boot. If your talking 1/16 big, the other guys will have to answer that.

1/35: Tamiya M1A1 w/ Mine Plow
Academy Tiger 1 Early Production w/ Interior
1/16: No contest. Tamiya King Tiger
All good kits, all fairly large. M1A1 would probably be the easiest, but the Academy rivals the King Tiger for sheer amount of parts and time in building. You’ve been warned…

Man, that’s so perfect it’s scary. I mean, that’s almost on the same scale as your
wife coming home and saying “Honey, I think we should have a threesome with
that supermodel you’re always drooling over!” Geez! As for a specific vehicle, I’d
suggest something in 1/35 and not too complicated. (I wouldn’t get her something with an interior, as that may frustrate her.) But you know her best, and she may actually like that challenge! You lucky dog.

Oh yea 1/35. Don’t have room right now for those as it is let alone one twice it’s size. I think she just wants to do something impressive. I should be posting our first “head to head” build later this evening. Nothing big but sort of interesting.
Tell her she’s already doing impressive things! Her 105 is impressive, her wanting to do models is impressive, her wanting to do a “big” tank is impressive. And I don’t get impressed easily, I mean, I’m one of the guys that told Ike where to get his potatos!!

I think its a great thing too! “LMAO at the threesome remark” For her first, I would suggest something simple. Like the M1 . Not only would it be fun, theyre pretty nice kits (Tamiya) and not that many difficult parts. And with all the action seen currently with the M1, it could be quite neat for her. My “future wife” is getting interested in building, but she wants to do the War Hammer stough, which is cool too. The ones she saw at the HobbyTown contest really got her interested, we’ll see how long that lasts. I think it would be a neat thing though to see a couple , like yourselves do a joint kit , like a 1/16 Tiger, something to have enough to do for the both.
BAD THING? That should be the best thing that could ever happen to a modelling husband. Now you don’t need to do a lot of convincing when you want to buy a kit because she will fully dig the cravings.
Now, get up and get that Tamiya M4A3 105 that you have been wanting to buy a couple of days ago. I bet she wouldn’t mind. Just buy here a Panther G or Tiger I.

Yea I know her building ain’t the bad thing. Just a wild thought about seeing a kit for a while wanting to build it , get it home and before you get in the door your wife has it spread out across the table thinking of where to start. Guess her sudden joy of building caught me off guard, well looks like the hobby budget gets to grow.

The compressor is hopefully goingto be around soon. Just with the kits laying around right now would cost as much in propellent as a compressor would. Yea I’ve already been accused of useing to much glue. That’s alright though went a got 6 tubes today so she should be happy now.
The Wife builds mainly sports cars that she likes. (Mustangs, Stealth) I build mainly Military Aircraft and Hummers. Besides I need extra hands ever now and then.
Just choose the BIGGEST AND MOST EXPENSIVE kit that you want and suggest that you buy two of them and that way you can “show her” whilst you build your own, as good an excuse as any to get the kit that you want without her moaning about the price, LoL. Greg

Yes indeed, you have it made, she’s a keeper![:D][:D][:D] My wife doesn’t make models, but she’s painted the stars on a Stuart and driven a few tanks and half tracks, so that’s pretty cool too, eh?
Wants to model a BIG tank? The Tiger would be great, but it’s beyond my price range… How 'bout finding a 1/25 scale Tamiya Centurion with a complete interior on evilbay or in a hobby shop, I think it’s OOP, but who knows. I tend to lose track of that stuff. Also, might be able to pick up the old Tamiya Tiger I (again with an interior). If she gets the Centurion, then that’s a good excuse to go to a museum for some research, Knox has a NICE one.
So, enjoy a wife who likes to glue stuff together and have fun!!!
