I finished my first diorama! "A New Power"

I’ve been working on this for a while now, and I just had a chance to finish it yesterday! I drew my initial design in high school and have been chugging away on it since (3 years). To those of you who are not familiar with Gundam, the centerpiece is the Zeta Gundam. I had a build thread on this guy a while back, but I wasn’t happy with it because it didn’t have a base.

I finished this one to kind of celebrate my last year in the Under-20 Category for GBWC (hoping to place again this year haha wishful thinking) and probably going to be my last big competitive build until I get done with college/grad school.

Let me know what you guys think! I would appreciate feedback on weathering because it was my only 2nd time attempting it, and it’s not in scale I don’t think. Tips and tricks appreciated!

Edit: I forgot to write a blurb on the story and how I built it so here we go:

“A New Power” depicts the MSN-006-R:D Zeta Gundam “Egret” on a captured Titans maintenance platform with two battle-worn MSA-003 Nemos launching. The repaired Nemo, piloted by an ex-Zeon ace, gazes at the Zeta in admiration, recognizing its potential to turn the tide of a losing war.

This custom was based on a drawing I completed in high school as a tribute to my favorite Gundam: the Zeta. To recreate it, I kitbashed the HG Barbatos (the primary frame) and combined elements from the HG Zeta, HG GP01Fb, and EG Nu. Spare parts were integrated to refine proportions and achieve a distinctive silhouette. Similarly, the supporting Nemos were kit bashed from HG Nemo and HG Shaldoll. All details were constructed with plastic card and epoxy putty. All components were painted with spray paints and weathered with acrylics.

Thanks for checking out my work!

I’m an old fart with zero expertise in Gundam. I do know quality work when I see it however. You’ve done an excellent build…congratulations!

I love the fine details. I especially like the astronaut(I don’t build gundam)

I like the different variety of the subject sizes- to show off the scale of the Gundam. An impressive and eye catching piece.

Well done! As others said, lots of eye candy to enjoy! Is this going to any contests? That original Zeta Gundam is so amazing.

@mrb865, @keavdog, @Panthertonk, @Karl187 thank you so much for all the feedback! it means a lot!

@RealG thanks! I hope to submit this one to GBWC and maybe so shows in SoCal!

Are you headed to Orangecon on 10/12? If so, maybe we can get together for lunch or something, as I am planning on attending.

I hope to go with a few of my friends from school because we’re only 8 minutes away from the venue! I do have to check my school and exam schedule, but I’ll keep you in the loop! It would be pretty cool to meet!
