The other movie thread got me thinking,we haven’t seen one if these in awhile,so what are some of your favorite war movies.

It’s hard to pick a top favorite, but probably would be Midway 2019 just for its accurate portrayal of the battle.

Not movies per se, but Band of Brothers, The Pacific, and Masters of the Air are on my list.

Real Soviet made tanks, playing Soviet tanks. Although I will say that the mock ups that were used for Soviet AFVs in the 1984 Red Dawn were pretty well done. Especially considering the available public information and reference on those machines when the film was made. That’s one to add to my list of favorite war movies

Really surprised nobody mentioned “Where Eagles Dare”…Richard Burton with his Welsh accent on the radio “Broadsword calling Danny Boy…” and the ever cool Clint Eastwood as his American assassin partner…watched it Everytime it came on TV when I was a kid…

Forgot two great movies - The War Lover with Steve McQueen as Capt. Buzz Rickson as a B-17 pilot who loves war. Great photography of actual B-17s. AND, though not a war movie per se but a great movie with Jimmy Stewart called Strategic Air Command. You can actually see Jimmy Stewart piloting that great bomber, the B-36 Peacemaker. Great interior shots of this plane!

I had to add two more that I forgot. Glory, and Memphis Belle. One of those was most likely the first War movie I ever watched as I was 9/10 when they came out. Maybe Platoon, but I was 6 when Platoon came out, so I did not see them until they hit cable or Dad rented them on VHS lol

Crimson Tide and Where Eagles Dare both top choices to watch again on Military Movie Night. Used to be The Hunt for Red October for us, but my wife and I saw it so many times that now we can do all of the character’s lines by heart.
