Hornet / Mirage Hybrid # 5

Very spacey!

Hmmm, Remco:
Reminds me of a project in your cupboard: the yellow/vanilla composite kitbash with blue striping, in the o-so very early painting days.
It’s the one in the back, If i may be so rude to post it for you…[:D]

After much debate between the hemispheres of my brain, it was decided that the fins on either side of the vertical stab were distracting, so they’ve been removed. I will save those for another time and another project.[:)]

thats cool.

Remember, the F-4 had angled wingtips to prevent roll during yaw movements. Maybe the canards should be turned down?

You have rattled the mush in my head.[:p] I think i might add some small canards to the nose a la B-1B. I’ll try it out and see what it looks like.[^]
Eddie

hmmm the bird looks long and deadly how bout a snake name??? ( Asp,Mamba,Giboon Viper ,Spitting Cobra,Boomslang ) just some thoughts

I like Boomslang. That might be the winning ticket.[:D][^][8D].

Another mod to the everlasting build. The big winglets just plain got me befuddled and distracted , so I had to make a change to get this thing moving. One of the things that I wanted to keep, but couldn’t because the winglets were in the way, was the 'Winder rails. I think I’ve found a happy medium. You might be thinking," Won’t the exhaust from the missile burn it up?" I’ve decided those winglets are a titanium alloy. See how easy it is to solve problems in Wonderland?[8-]

The gear is ready for final paint. The main gear are F-15E wheels and main strut. The nose is the orginial Mirage gear, but I used 1:48 F-16 main gear wheels. Almost done with putty. Hard to believe I haven’t finshed this long ago.[][swg]

Eddie

Eddie, I’ve said it before on the What If site and I’ll say it again:

You are the ELVIS of kitbashing!

Love it! [^]

Thank you, Thank you very much![(-D] I good to see you out and about.[;)] You ought to bring some of your stuff out here.My efforts stand in the shadows of your fine works.[bow] Seriously guys, John Howling Mouse is a master What if’er!

Eddie

Eddie,

Looks good so far - keep us posted.

How’s the B-17/KC135 going?

It’s moving along pretty well, considering I’m making it up as I go.[:D] I finally finished putty and sanding. Here she is with her first coat of paint. I added the wing tip tanks to see what it looks like and I just might leave them.[:)] I also added the canopy to give me a better look of what I’m trying to accomplish, because I have no idea what I’m doing.[(-D]

Eddie

I got her up on her stems for a test fit tonight. Once I get the ordinance and drops hung, I think it’s gonna look pretty good.[:)]

Eddie

Your building proces amezes me, this build looked like a space fighter a first but now it looks like a solid airsuperiority fighter. Vaguely reminding me of a mirage 4000…

Thank you. [:)] Believe me, this one has not evolved as I had planned, but is going to be a nice addition to my shelf of What ifs. Wait till you see what I’ve got planned next. A F-106/ F-15 hybrid[:D]

Eddie

That is a fantastic build Eddie! I really like this one, thanks for the pics, Darren.

Thanks Darren. Here’s a test run of a scheme I’ll be using on the “Horage.”[(-D] This a UAV that I’ve been working on for many months and decide to use it as a test bed for the paint job. It’s a bit " in your face " right now , but I will be putting a dull coat on it and that should tone it down a bit. I’ll be using much lighter colors for this build.

Eddie

I know this is a bit off the topic for this build, but if you’re here looking, you probably might be interested in my other projects. This one didn’t garner a lot of attention when I first started it, but now that I’m close to completion, I thought I share the outcome.[:)] Mainly, I wanted to show that the dullcoat has turned the brightness factor down on the paint scheme. I do have a slightly different scheme to use on the “Boomslang” that still uses this technique, but with a twist.[;)]
