Hornet / Mirage Hybrid # 5

I found my Mirage that I had been looking for and inspiration struck like lightning. I robbed the nose from the 2nd 18/104 and this is what I got. Finally, some thing with lots of wing area for lots of ordinance.[;)] Plenty of power too.[^][:D]

Interesting concept. I like it!

Now that has potential! It might need some modern stealth technology applied to it. Third world dictators looking to mass an air force may be interested.

Hey eddie it looks like again something out of a japaneese anime cartoon only in terms of the design also it looks like to me that this is in 1/32 scale and not 1/48. Now getting to the building part, to make this model look even better the intakes should squared off so that they blend in with the aft fusealge also you could make the wings in a folding position, even the canard forplanes could redesigned as well and the truth to me is i think this is the hybrid using an F-18 so far.

It’s like I’ve seen that bird somewhere before, but I can’t place it…[:p] Definitely looking good so far Eddie!

LOL!!!
Eddie, you’ve completely lost it this time!
I like it - very futuristic - or it could be straight out of a Sci-Fi flick…
Nice one - show us the progress on this as you move along.

Eddie,
another nice looking plane youve got there,i notice youve got a line up of pilots in the background are they the test pilots for that beast?[(-D]
P.S everytime i see a hybrid post with youre name i just have to have a look

Not my cup of tea, but they look like your’e having fun, which is what matters the most.

Regards, Rick

You should get a designing gig with George Lucas! Very Star Warish, if I may say so! Well done!

Brian [bow]

Well, it isn’t STAR-WAR-ish in my opinion. Great design that fits perfectly with the current tendency of Delta+canards. Take the (ancient) Vigen, Gripen, Typhoon, Rafale, but don’t forget the Berkut, the MiG 1.44, and more or less the Su-35/37. I’m probably missing out on many now…

Looking at the engines: the suction form the two wing engines probably speed up incomng air on the topside of the wing. This decreases pressure on top of the wing, and thus increasing lift of the wing. It might be the very first 6th generation fighter… as we know -now on the year 2030 - stealth is so passé

Great design!

Maybe it strikes you as the Firefox? Some have mentioned to me that it looks like an updated version. To be honest, my vision when I started was the F-16XL Cranked Arrow and the X-29, put in a blender, and mix thoughly.[;)]

Svankreijl,
I like your train of thought. None of that came into play when I was putting it together, but plausible none the less. I’d love to design aircraft, but everyone wants college degrees to do that stuff.[B)] Looks like I should try movie modeling.[:D]

Thanks for the interest in this and all my other projects. You folks are my litmus test and ya’ll haven’t let me down yet. I enjoy the comments. They help me build a better model.[^] Someday, when I’m a hotshot special effects modeller, I will give credit to this fine forum![swg]

Now, this one gets parked in the hanger until I finish #4 To those who observe the 4th of July, have a good one!
Eddie

great idea, I see 2 different engines, how about 1 one jet engine end 2 ramjets, for hypersonic performance?

Looks awesome. Do you build any nomal stuff?[:P]

Believe it or not, I do, but I’m in this weird phase right now. I’ve actually started a Blue Angel A-4 ( the seat is done[:D]) and am refurbishing a 1:32 and 1:48 F-4’s to CV-41 and CV-43 colors. Also a B-58 in testbed colors. If anyone would like to take a llok at some my past projects, here ya go. Keep in mind these are models all have done with a bit of a twist to make them uniquely mine. Plus some are older and I hadn’t learned the newer techiques that I feel make some of them better than others.

It did totally remind me of the firefox. Looking forward to this one.

Weird Eddie strikes again! Your fertile imagination is the breeding grounds for the unbelievable and incongruous. I love it. Go man, go!

A small update as I refine the intakes. This one has it’s hooks in me ,so I’m back to working on 5 project at once. Sheer madness.[oX)][8-][party]
Eddie

Inspiration struck, so I added some of this, some of that, trying to figure out how this one will come out.

Eddie: That’s what is was…a cross between the F-16XL and the Firefox![:D] Is she going to be land based or naval aircraft?

Looks very nice so far. Keep up the good work Eddie.

After a suggestion and some thought, I’m going to make this a two seater. I borrowed the one piece clear canopy( This model is 20 something yrs. old) from my Blue Angels Hornet.( I replaced it with another) After modifing a F-4 cockpit and a couple of F-15 seats, I think it’s gonna work.[:D]
