Hey folks. I’ve already posted things here, and I thought it was time to introduce myself further.
Born and raised in Lorain, Ohio, I’ve been building models since age 7. My first kit was Aurora’s Me 109 (79¢ back in 1962). After taking a few years off in high school to pursue art and photography (and girls), I became serious about modeling again while in college in the early 1970s. In 1981, I had four articles published in the old Military Modeler magazine. In the following years I began to compete, winning over 150 awards for armor, dioramas, and figures, including placing in IPMS/USA National shows and several Best in Show awards in regional and smaller shows.
At the 1985 IPMS Nationals in Indianapolis, representatives of Tamiya asked me to submit photos of one of my dioramas, and ultimately the pictures were published in the 1986 Tamiya Catalog. One of my dioramas was featured in an article published in FineScale Modeler magazine in April 2009, and another in the IPMS/USA Journal in 2024.
I now live in Claremont, New Hampshire, recently retired after a 45-year nursing career. I live with my Swedish wife, Astrid, who is a staunch supporter of my modeling. She thinks tanks are cool!
Great to have you hear. What I’ve seen is just amazing - looking forward to more of your work (and maybe a couple WIP threads with tips and techniques )
Now how cool is that to have a wife who supports not only your scale modeling but i you out passion for tracked vehicles as well.
Awesome stuff and glad that you are here Mark.
