Hello from East Tennessee

My first model was a Sherman that I mangled on Christmas Break ~40 years ago.
The next one I remember for sure was the monogram P-61 I mangled on another Christmas break ~35 years ago.

Then, after visiting the Air Force museum with my son, I rebuilt that kit with him about 10 years ago and loved it. He wasn’t too keen, but I was hooked.

I build a wide variety of stuff. Really whatever strikes me as interesting.

My recent builds include

  • 1/48 Komastu Bulldozer (Tamiya)
  • Crayfish (Fujimi)
  • 1/20 Melusine (Wave)
  • Speederbike (AMT).

Currently active on my bench are

  • 1/72 Shinden (Hasegawa),
  • 1/35 Grosser Hund (Artpla),
  • 1/72 Destroid Spartan (Imai),
  • 1/20 SAFS Fireball SG (Wave).

Welcome to FSM, I am in Western North Carolina, just over the mountains

Welcome. I have relatives in Morristown. Eastern Tennessee is such a beautiful part of the country.

Welcome to FSM! I love eastern Tennessee. Beautiful country and great people!

Welcome to the forum. You’ve got quite a bit of active builds on your bench. I can only do one at a time. Jump on in and start posting you’re completed builds, and in process. Looking forward to seeing them.

Thanks!
I sincerely get nearly all my modeling joy from the project itself. I don’t really care much if I never finish a project. This may be related to my ADHD.

I am happy to have multitudes of works-in-progress. Shelf queens are just models waiting for me to be ready to work on them again.

I’ve some finished builds I want to post as soon as I get decent pics.

Welcome to the forum Raphael! I like your build list! Can you show us your crayfish? That is such an amazing kit that gets no airplay! And you build MaK too! :grinning:

Welcome! Look forward to seeing your builds.

Yeah these Fujimi kits are great. The crayfish was amazing to build. I’ve also done the Mantis and one of the beetles.
I’ll share pics very soon,

I think the crayfish was their best kit so far. A friend who is quite good at painting up animals did this one:

I hope Fujimi continues with this series and does something really offbeat and cool, like an Amazon giant centipede. Or a big cockroach! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

And you did one of the Beetles? Which one? Paul, George, John, or Ringo?

Okay, I will settle down now. I’m just jazzed you are here.

Man that looks awesome. I want to drop it in a pot of boiling water

That crayfish looks fantastic! I had no idea that Fujimi made these types of kits.

Welcome to the forum, Raphael! You have a nice selection of subjects queued up-the MaK kits really catch my eye. I look forward to seeing your finished builds!

Best regards,
Brad

Welcome along! When you mentioned ‘Crayfish’ I thought it might be some kind of spaceship (or MaK which I’m not overly familiar with) rather than, y’know, an actual crayfish model! But then that is exactly what I scroll down and see. Nice to see off beat and different subjects like that.

They are great kits.
Like many Bandai kits, they are designed such that a young or beginning modeller can produce a good model without much extra work: molded in color, minimal sprue gates, largely snap fit.

I think any of them would make a good palette cleanser.

The only downside is that I’ve only found them on HLJ or other Japanese sellers.

I built it in my lap during visit to my daughter. It was one of the most enjoyable builds I’ve done.

Welcome to the forum!

I’ve been enjoying the completed builds that you’ve posted and look forward to seeing more.

Welcome to the forums. I look forward to seeing some of your builds.
