anybody know what i could use in my airbrush to paint a salamder jet. tamiya coulers AS-23 AS-24 AS-5 would work but i think they are only rattle cans, and like i said i want to airbrush it. i dont care what brand, as long as it looksits the right shade.
Decaant themas in spray themm into some used clean paint bottles and let them degas and then load the paint intoo your airbrush.
ha ha… no reay thanks but i realy want to use a diffrant type of paint instead of tamiya
The proper RLM colors are RLM 76 lichtblau for the underside, RLM 83 dunkelgrun and RLM 82 lichthgrun for the top.
okay… but i need to know were to buy them or who makes thoso shades cause me mixing paints HA!!
never mind i found a site that gave me the model numbers thanks!
Model master has a full line of RLM colors in both enamel and acrylic. These colors are about as close as can be. Most online suppliers should have them. Be aware that they switched RLM 82 and RLM 83. meaning that 82 is actually 83 and vice versa.
Like Yeti said The correct colors are either 76/82/82 or 76/81/and/or 82/83. Note that RLM 82 litchgrun is seldon seen on wings. So it’s possible to have an 76/81/82 on the fueslage and 81/83 on the wings. Also He-162’s had no primer coat or 76/02 undercoat, just a thin layer a camo over bare metal. Thus the panel lines of these mechines can be seen very easily and sometimes appear darker than the camo in the right light.
i am modeling the 2/JG1 if that helps narrow it down at all
Yah I think most he-162 built are usually 'yellow 4", or “white 1”, both of Jg1 all with a red (RLM 23) arrow on the nose.
Yellow 4= 76/81/82
White 1 = I don’t recall off hand I think this might be 76/82/83 memory is letting me down again.
Red 23= is only 76/83 only
there also a “white 7” that’s popular as well.
If you have trouble let me know and I’ll actually go look it up. I don’t build many of these. If you are building 2/JG1 and they followed standered luftwaffe staffel order the number code should be yellow or sometimes red late war. White is always 1 staffel.
im not sure but i think im modeling red 1 here is my main refrance http://www.clubhyper.com/reference/he162ng_fuselage.html
Red 1", flown by Staffelkapitän Lieutenant Gerhard Hanf, 2./JG 1, Leck, May 1945. work#120077.
You can do this 2 ways. The repainted example you have is 76/83. The original was 76/81/83. The upper wings and fuselage were 83. The engine and mount was 81, and the lower surfaces were 76. RLM 76 by this point in thew war was more or a watered down light gray then blue. You achive this effect by either weathering the 76 or by adding a little white to your 76. I’m not sure how accurate you want it just throwing this out for your info. I usually just hose on 76 and that’s about it. I’ll adjust it if need be, but not often.
I am not really worryed about accuarcy, but i think i will paint it like it was originaly, you said earlair that RLM 83 and 82 are swithed on the model master line?also were do you recomend getting the paint online.
My first stop is squadron.com. I know they carry it. My back up’s are greatmodels.com and spruebrother.com.
Thanks, but before i make a order i need to be 100% sure on what testors paint to order,
Testors Rlm 81,RLM 83, Rlm 76 Right?
Correct, this does get confussing doesn’t it. I found this on the net that might help out.
http://www.rlm.at/cont/profil17_e.htm
RLM 82 and RLM 83 are easily confussed. One problem was testors switching the RLM numbers around. Anothers is RLM 82 lichtgrun is like RLM 81 braunviolett. No real standered was set and thus you see it applied in many different shades. To make matter worse the standerd’s this late in the war were non existent. I have seen 262’s with a very light green 82 and then seen it where it almost as dark as 83. IMO the testors 82 is slightly too light for my tast. I usually tone it down ever so slightly with a little 83 dunkelgrun. There have been hordes of studies done about this. In some cases I would say it doesn’t matter, depending on who mixed it and applied it these two colors could look very similar. You could go nut’s thinking about this stuff[D)]
You want in MM
76 lichtblau (light blue)
81 braunviolett (brown violet)
83 lichtgrun (light green)
Okay! got it! as i have said before im not accuracy freak i just want it to look kinda right if that makes sense?
Okay got another one… I have the dragon 1/48 Komet that i will buid next, so i figured if im making a order i might as well buy that paint too, i will have to look to see which scheme i want to paint but i figured yall could start brainstorming and give me idieas
The 163 being a vey late war fighter like the 162 may have sported the same camo. 76/81/83 was a popular camo for late reich defence fighters. If you need help post it. If I can’t help you someone on here can.

For painting i use Gunze colors , because they are very good for Luftwaffe aircrafts.
