Hasegawa 1/48 Spitfire Mk. IXe *Completed Pics*

I completed this for the Spitfire GB. It’s a Hasegawa Mk. IXe, which I did as a c wing version. The kit comes with parts for both… even a Mk. VIII can be built from the kit. It’s finished in both the kit’s decals- which were good, and Johnnie Johnson’s markings from the ICM Mk. IX- which were awful.

I published a full build report here.

This was a good kit- very detailed, good fit… costs a bit more than the Airfix Mk. IX, but it’s a much nicer and detailed kit overall.

Nice work there Jon. The finish and stripes look well done.

Andy

Very nice great job on the camo.

Jon: A Spitfire? I didn’t know you liked Spitfires … [;)]

Great looking build. You did great on the camo and subtle weathering.

Excellent Jon. I love the stripes, they’d scare the willies out of me.

Jon, that’s top-notch work. Your D-Day stripes came out great, too!

Thats great, plus great photography too!!

Jon when building this kit, is it easier to close the fuselage first then install the cockpit? Or do that before closing it?

yardbird78- Thanks so much!

tigerman- No need to fear… long as you’re not in a 190 or 109! [;)] Thanks so much!

ModelNerd- Thank you so much, my friend!

bondoman- Thanks fo rthe kind words. I figured out the trick of photography- take 5 times more pics than you’ll use… some of 'em are bound to turn out right! LOL

Leaada- First I taped the fuselage shut very tightly, and did a test fit to make sure I could slide the parts in. Once I confirmed that would work, I glued the fuselage together, and held it together with rubber bands. I then slid in the cockpit parts and glued them. This way, if the fuselage needs to spread a bit, it can, but the rubber bands keep it from falling apart. Hope that helps!
