Greetings from Hampton Roads, Virginia!

Retired Naval officer and E-2C Hawkeye NFO, intelligence and missile defense analyst (45 yrs tyler). Re-entered the hobby some 7 yrs ago at recommendation of my neurologist after a 30+ year hiatus - found a lot of changes, both goods and others. Concentration areas are ships (1/350-1/200) mostly Cold War and later, aircraft from WW2 to present (all scales but tend to prefer 1/48 and especially USN - surprise, lol). Some examples are included below of recent builds

Am a member of IPMS and Tidewater IPMS, so look forward to seeing your bright shining faces here in August!

Welcome! That’s a nice collection of builds you have there.

I go to a lot of football games and see a lot of fly-overs. While my favorites always involve fighters kicking in their after-burners, my next favorite was one I saw at the 2012 Texas A&M @ Mississippi State game, which included a Hawkeye. I always loved the look of that aircraft with that huge rotating disc.

Here is the Kinetic kit I built back in 2020.

wdossel, First off “Thank You” for your years of service to our country. Second, welcome to the FSM forum and from the look of your builds I’m going to learn a lot from you. Your builds are fantastic! I’m particularly interested in your technique for making water/sea bases. I can’t wait to see more of your builds and to learn more for my own ship modeling.

Aggieman, your Hawkeye looks awesome! I’ve also loved the look of the Hawkeye ever since my oldest brother sent back photos of some from his days aboard the USS America. Out of curiosity, how much weight did you need to add to the front of that plane to balance it on its landing gear?

Goodness, I’ve slept a bunch since then. But probably I added a bunch of BBs until it balanced properly. Typically I’ll put the BBs in a small ziplock bag to test fit everything with all major parts taped into position so I can determine the balance point.

Welcome to the forum and those are some very nice builds. Keep posting.

Thank you for your service (you had like one of my dream jobs)! Love your models too
