I was wondering if people have particular favorite modelling websites that they fine interesting and learn from?
Duh !!! what about this one ???
Okay, most do belong to other sites,I’ve been on this one the longest, since 03 and its had its ups and downs,it’s making a nice comeback now and I hope it continues.
I also enjoy the Kitmaker sites, especially Armorama, huge amount of talented and knowledgeable people willing to help, just be careful of the “Off Topic Shenanigans” section where almost anything goes if you are easily offended, with them since 06
My current favorite is Modelerssocialclub of which I have the privilege of serving as a Moderator, lots of friendly down to earth guys and great modelers.I think I signed up in 12.
I also use Britmodeller,Modelers Alliance and SPAM to a lesser extent.
My favourite is also Modelers Social Club followed by Custom Model Society (mostly cars)
Don’t really hang out anyplace else.
If I have a favorite website, it’s “What If Modelers”. I spend a decent amount of time there. If I’m not there, then I’m browsing model groups on Facebook. But I don’t have any particular favorite groups there.
Modeling Madness, I use it more for colour reference for my models rather than reading, though I did publish some articles over there. I stopped because laziness got the best of me and didn’t want to open Word to type everything. Also because my models don’t get the proper seam treatment, again, laziness.
Britmodeller is also a website I used to frequent, but their convoluted way of posting photos just made me opt out. I do check it from time to time to see the Rumourmonger section.
Aircraft Resource Center.

I post pictures in Britmodeller the same way that I post them here and all my forums,I copy the photo’s link and just paste it in the dialog box along with my post.
Yeah, but that means:
- Needing an app such as Imgur or Flickr.
- Open the app and copy the link.
- Go back to Google.
- Go back to the website.
- Paste.
The advantage of Discourse is that you can upload directly from our phones.
Again, laziness.
What Anthony said…
I like it here for certain reasons, and MSC for certain reasons. Both have their pros and cons.
FSM has done a great job bringing their forum back from the brink. I have been very fortunate to learn a lot from both sites. I’m very grateful for everyone I’ve interacted with on both sites
I will second that sentiment about the new FSM forum. Night and day compared to the old one that was falling apart. Uploading pictures directly had made thins SO simple!
Here I’ve been a member since 03. SPAM is great but very small group. MSC is so much fun. Learn alot and have great interactions at the same time.
Here, Fine scales main website, YouTube.
This one! And also YouTube videos
This one, Scalemates and YouTube are my most visited. The rest are sites I find doing a search for a technique.
I like Track-Link, Modeling Madness, Large Scale Planes, Scalemates, and Hyper Scale
I also spend time on Modelwarships, but it’s mainly just browsing and not posting.
Regarding model groups on Facebook, I’ve been starting to get annoyed with some of them. So I don’t post as much as I used to. You got Mods and Admins who rule with an iron fist. There’s a lot more “advertising” of products, sites, and other stuff in groups than actual people showing off their in progress or finished models. New members who recently joined a group who haven’t been completely vetted by the Admins and who post spam or other non-modeling stuff. And the list goes on and on.
So pretty much just Facebook in general!
If you want to be tore down, humiliated, demeaned end up depressed and dumber than you were before you visited check out Reddit.
Im addicted to reddit even though the mods constantlyy powertrip me
I like to read the AITAH stories
