In terms of TV series, Star Trek: The Next Generation with The Best of Both Worlds (two-parter) where Captain Picard was captured by the Borg and Riker took command of the Enterprise. Great episode.
In terms of movie series, Star Wars, Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
Stargate SG-1 ( initial series ) for humorous scripts written for Richard Dean Anderson and other cast
Mmm, Goa’uld TV …
Favorite episode? not sure…haven’t seen all of 'em…Prometheus Unbound had some amusing script writing . Icon was nice just seeing AK 47 and M1 Garands and the script recognition that just visiting the planet resulted in civil war and the destruction of the civilization
Then there’s The Broca Divide : O’Neill, to a primitive Daniel: “Daniel, you dog. Keep this up you’ll have a girl on every planet.”
Star Trek “classic” " Doomsday Machine "
Space Rangers- some amusing scripts though series very short lived
Star Trek, TOS: The balance of Terror or the Doomsday Machine. Too hard to decide.
Star Trek, TNG: Best of Both Worlds is amazing, I really can’t decide on any of the others.
Firefly: difficult to weed out my favorite. Jayne’s town was great for the lolz, but the pilot episode and the one where you see the past of Serenity are close seconds.
Star Wars The clone wars: I simply mentioned it because it must die. A horrible death. I ahve no positive feelings for it whatsoever.
“Demon…” was good. I loved it when it was broadcast, then bought it first on VHS and again on DVD. But favorite series? Quirky, mad, loveable FARSCAPE, hands down! I have every episode and TV movie on DVD. My favorite episode is (ta da):
“Revenging Angel” (Season 3, Episode 16)
If you haven’t seen it, Google it and prepare to bust a gut laughing. Froonium Forever!
Too many to choose just one show, and each has its good eps.
WIth B5 it would be a short list of which ones weren’t good. I feel the same way about Farscape, and I can’t think of any Firefly eps that weren’t great.
I think my favorite Stargate SG-1 ep is the “Groundhog Day” episode. “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, try, try, try, try, try again.”
All the Trek series had good ones, from TOS “City on the Edge of Forever” and “Doomsday Machine” to DS9’s “Paper Moon” and the one ( forgot the title ) where Sisko’s dictating a log entry struggling with getting his hands dirty with Garak’s help in securing Romulan support in the Donimion War.
X-Files had great ones as well, both in the main story and the one-shots.
And, of course the new BSG. The ones that weren’t great for the shoot-em-ups were still great for the story, I’d say that series was the best overall since I can’t think of a single episode that wasn’t great in one way or another.
Until Firefly became co-favorite, it was definitely Star Trek- The Next Generation. Episode: Deja Q. I think John de Lancie is fantastic in that series.
Stargate Universe & BSG. Both have plenty of good “spaceship” time with large & impressive spaceships. A bit of a story & plenty big spaceships - what more could you want.
Anybody saw the TV series Life on Mars back in 08 to 09? It was about a police Det. that gets knocked out in 2008 and wakes up in 1973! It really got hooked on it cause around that time I went into the Police Dept. so it brought back a lot of great polyester memories, not to mention the old police equipment. I did hate the ending to it!!
The original British version was much better than the US adaptation (the ending wasn’t as cliched). The sequel “Ashes to Ashes” was pretty good too and wrapped up the entire story not long ago.
