Falklands/Malvinas War 30th Anniversary GB

I’m currently building it for the Mighty 8th GB that i am hosting. I put an update in there last weekend. I have also put it down for a couple of other GB’s. Its been slow going, but things are picking up now.

The masking is being a big task.

Time to take the masks off. Let´s pray…

Not bad…

Some little retouch I have to do but nothing to hard.

Nice job, thats comeing along really nicely.

Hello friends of the group, here I leave them the figures that Argentinian finishes of the tactical divers and of the royal marinade, I hope that they like.

Regards

Pablo

Muy bueno, Pablo.

Some nice little figures there, i rather like them. And nice to have some figures in the build.

Think we might be getting another Pucara entered into the GB. lewbud, over on the Mighty 8th GB, saw one in his model shop and said he may well pick it up. Seems to be a popular build, but i can see why. Might well get one myself.

Me again gang, sorry to be dropping in & out like this, but summer is far too short up here & I’m on a softball diamond any chance I get! I’ve been finishing up a couple of other kits as well so I can focus on my Falklands kits when the time comes.

bondoman, do you think adding some styrene strip inside that wing assembly would be any help for alignments, or just another layer of “something could go wrong”?

I know you have to make the most of the weather while you can vance, so no problem popping in when you are able. I have been haveing a few problems getting on myself. My connection is lousy when i am in camp, this is the first time i have been able to get on this week for more than 10 mins without loseing it. That should mean i get plenty of my builds done, but i spend half the evening trying to get online.

Bish - how’s the hand feeling?

Not bad thanks. The caste has been off just over a week. I have on of those braces now that i can remove. Theres was still a small fracture, its going to take a while to heal fully and i have to be careful. But at least i can model properly now.

Great to read that, I hope you get better soon.

Are you in the Malvinas now?

I hope to see your work soon

Best regards

Jeremias

Azorean i don’t see your pictures, it’s only me?

Nice paint on the figures Biqua [Y]

Nice to hear good news Bish

ok going to complete the front gear of sue , heres too hot but i’ll do

Here is my entry into this GB, I’ve already worked on it, but haven’t gotten around to posting the build log until now. My scratch-building skills might not be as great as the others who have posted, but here I go anyway!

I used the old MPC Harrier in 1/72 scale:

The cockpit detail is almost non-existent, but I tried my best to replicate a bit more than what the kit provides. The canopy is one piece and a bit thick, so not much is seen through it anyway.

I added two fishing weights in the nose, because I didn’t know if this would be a tail sitter, but I decided not to take any chances. The super glue I used ended up fogging the canopy, but I popped it back off and fixed the problem.

detail before scratch-building:

Detail afterwards. I added an instrument panel, side wall bracing, and detail to the ejection seat

I then glued the two fuselage halves together, and added the wings. Both joins required a little bit of putty. I also cut open some of the auxiliary exhaust openings in the intake, but not all. Pictures I’ve seen on the net showed parked Harriers with only the top 4 open. I also dropped the flaps.

While that was drying, I worked on adding detail to the landing gear: wires, struts, a headlight…

OWL

That’s some nice work on the Harrier Owl, I’m liking the extra details on the landing gear. [Y]

Nice work on the harrier Owl [Y]

Need to look at some reference photos ,but don’t remember the two pieces just in front main wings [^o)]

Yeah, I was confused about what they were supposed to be too, but I think they are little exhausts.

Thanks Jeremis. I am back in the UK now, been home since start of May. I won’t be going away again as i am out next year.

Still got a couple of builds to go before i start the Chinook. I am planning on starting in the new year. After my current build and the next one are done, going to catch up on a couple of Dio’s. But will still leave me plenty of time for the Chinook.

Glad you are on the mend. We all believe in a caste free society…

I’m going on vacation next week so I’m going to try to wrap up the Pucara here tonight and tomorrow night.

It just needs weathering, weapons load out and landing gear attached.

My friend John gave me a lovely C-130J from Airfix. I will build that next as a post-war aircraft. There’s a bunch of good pictures of them on line re: the Falklands. I’d like to do a tanker, but I’m not sure what all would be involved.

You now i never realised MPC made aircraft kits. TRhought they just did Sci-Fi.

Nice work there OWL, thats coming along nicely.

thanks, fellas.

I’ve yet to upload the finished pics, but they should be posted in a day or so. but in the meantime, here is the little Harrier ready for paint!

I’ve decided against adding any ordinance to the plane, due to the lackluster quality the kit offered. Unfortunately my spare weapons in 1/72 are nil. I guess this way allows one to appreciate the lines of the Harrier, even it the lines suggest a fish! [:P]
