Falklands/Malvinas War 30th Anniversary GB

i think mpc is better on sci-fi subject… never the matchbox kit had so thick fliyng surfaces, on other way the work you put on it is good owl, sure the camouflage will give a better look to the finished kit [Y]

Think the lesson from your build OWL is avoid MPC aircrfat kits. But you have done a nice job on it. Will be nice to see some paint on it.

Considering this was a box I got at a vendors table for only a dollar, I dont really consider it much of a waste. It does allow me to practice basic modeling skills! [;)]

A quick spray session in the garage gave the Harrier is colors. I had some peeling issues with the light gray, but that was due to the paint not being fully cured. but that was easily fixed. The Camo was masked with silly putty.

It looks less like a fish, now that the paint is applied

OWL

You can’t argue with that for $1 can you, and you have done a good job on it.

nice paint on the harrier but think you put the av-8 marines scheme [^o)]

the lowest price kit found till now is about 3 € [li]

I was trying to Google the Falklands paint scheme, (because after reading discussions on this thread, it seemed quite confusing!!) and had seen a lot of the Harriers with the wraparound green/gray scheme. But then I found this one, which, if the caption was to be believed, was a GR.3 that was stationed at Stanley Airport during the Falklands conflict. The picture shows the belly of the plane to be a light gray color:

I rather liked the tri-color scheme, and considering that the decal sheet came that paint profile (although you can never be 100% certain about the decal sheets) I decided to stick with it.

OWL

OWL, assuming that is Stanley, then that would have placed that photo as after the conflict itself, which is fine as thats allowed.

But apart from the drop tank, i am finding it hard to see the lighter colour underneath. But as long as your happy with it.

thanks Bish. If you look close at the front landing gear door and gunpack (?), they are a distinctly light color

Ye, i had looked at that. Yes it does look a bit lighter but not as light as the drop tank. And the green on the nose looks like it just carries on, i would have thought the lighter underside would be more visable there. But it is hard to tell so certain.

probably you get the most confusing picture of the gr3 [:S]

at a firts look the color of hangar behind, causes a strange contrast .

so guys, just to not seems dead some little sue update

My little Harrier is finished!

The outrigger wheels were too short to touch the ground, but I can get it to balance on the main gear.

zooming around the backyard:

OWL

OWL, nice job, pulled that kit out of the gutter. regards the outriggers, its looks to me like the landing is set to in flight angles. The front wheel looks more like the pic of the harrier hanging from a roof than the one you posted of it on the ground. But even without that, the outriggers look to short.

Nice job, and nice pics. Thanks for posting.

bsymato, looks very nice. I like the detailing on the landing gear. Looks like your not far off finishing either.

yes, i’m just on 99% complete panic from 3 weeks [:'(]

Congratulations OWL!

You are the first one to finish the job. Nice Harrier.

I was surfing the net and found this pics about a SIG South Atlantic:
