Eddie,
I think that this type of modelling is extremely inventive and takes a great deal of imagination - many of us can copy what we see, but not many can create what we see in our mind’s eye. Good on you, mate - I really like the shape, and I look forward to seeing it finished.
As for paint, i would paint it test colors…
Gloss white and Flourescent Orange…=)
Love the plane so far, keep up the good work.
I think you’re right. I was starting to let this “thing” get too complicated. Test colors it is.I’ve still got to finish a B-58, a custom F-15 ABCD[:D] and my first helo,an Apache. Turn to and move ahead sharply! I’m still going to hang ordinance though. Can’t do without it[;)]
Oh yeah… it’ll be great in the test colors… but I agree, it has to have ordinance on it… can’t wait till it’s done.
Eddie i forgot to mention i think you should have moved the vertical tails further apart ,the wings could be longer, you could,ve made the airframe longer as well the other cool idea would be to make it a v-tail configuation, as far as i could tell the jet exhaust looks a little to big, could,ve gone with one F-14 exhaust nozzel or keep the F-16 nozzel in stead, also the hump could,ve been longer all the way to the exhaust nozzel speaking of the nozzel you should have made it a 2-D thrust vectoring nozzel. Now me for exmaple my next F-16 will feature a 2-D thrust vectoring nozzel, and rounded wingtips but will have either a single or a twin tail configuation, i have done a visual drawing in my head and let me say it looks awesome with as a twin tail.
wow that’s a good project, why don’t you try the falconet
Authurgray,
That sure is an impressive list of “what if’.” We should have started an F-16 Hybrid build. I’m looking forward to seeing you bring your Falcon/Tomcat to life, with all the great ideas you mentioned included. Hope you can start soon,I’m eager to see your handy work. Mine will continue as a Falcon/Hornet(with a splash of Skyhawk for flavor[:D]) Good luck on your build.
Here’s the first coat of white paint. Since the decal sheet for my Hustler has enough for 6 different birds,I’ve got some cool markings to use my “Skeeter.” I’ve placed the canopy on for reference.Since there is no cockpit, the canopy will be painted on the inside after a dip in Future. Movin’ along, singin’ a song…[:D]
Very nice work… looks really cool.
Glad to see you decided against the strakes, they really didn’t have much use, IMHO. It will look really sweet in those test colors. How about dummy bombs (blue) as ordinance? Just a suggestion.
I did add strakes, but much smaller than before. I wish I had more room under the wing to hang more ordinance, because I have a few ‘dumb’ bombs to get rid of, but it’s gonna be crowded with what I’m planning on putting under there.
Authurgray did give me an idea that I may save my bombs for. I’ve got an old Mirage carcass that I just might add swing wings to spice it up. Already planning it . [8D]
All this came about after the A-10 Group Build? What have we created here? It’s MADNESS, I tell you!
Seriously, though, that is maybe one of the most impressive kitbashes I’ve ever seen. With the paint on, you’d think it was an OOB kit, not something you just started with parts of two completely different kits. Eddie, I tip my hat and give you a 21-airbrush salute for this one. Un-freakin-believable doesn’t even begin to cover it. Looking forward to seeing it finished.
Thanks LemonJello! You guys were the ones who stirred my mushbowl to create this aircraft. After the work I did on my Firehog,it gave me the confidence to jump off into the deep end without having to worry about my skill on scratchbuilding. This is a preview of the decals that I’ve just started.[8D]
Hey, Eddie…that looks cool - keep posting pics, mate.
Jetlag’s right - you probably didn’t need the strakes - but I’m glad to see you didn’t go with the huge ones you were looking at.
I agree that the strakes aren’t that pretty, but while I was in the Navy ,I got used to seeing them on the Hornets. To me, I needed something to break up those smooth, flowing lines.[(-D]
Eddie, that´s a really cool thing. looking forward to see the finished thing. RemoGrob, I really like the tri engine ideea.
Keep it up /Johan
Eddie,
that’s a brilliantly original idea and a superb build, I wonder if anyone from Lockheed has seen this? Its definately food for thought…
Great work!
Regards,
Darren.
Gilmund,
To tell the truth, it was a past issue os FSM that someone built a Sea Grippen in USN colors that got me thinking about this project.
That hybrid of yours gets better looking with every post. I second the 21 airbrush salute. The last airplane I saw that looked that cool was the XF-16- the delta winged version.
Dude,keep the pictures coming.Allen
Here’s the day 9 update with a few accessories included. Getting down to the wire[8D]
