Just fresh from the A-10 “What if” build and I thought since I’m in that frame of mind, I’d start a Frankenstein’s Monster. I’m using an old F-16 frame and make it a true Navy Aggressor.I’ll be adding Hornet landing gear,Hornet vertical stabs and A-4 “ECM” package on the spine. Plus a Navy tailhook(as if there were any other kind[;)]). Have already cut out the molded main gear wells and scratch built my own. Just having fun with my years old parts box. If anyone would like to help me come up with a name for my EF/A-16N,please be my guest.[:D]
Can’t wait to see what she will look like… maybe some new and unique weapons are in order too.
sea falcon? no, that would be to easy. If I come up with something good, I will get back on it.
anyhow, way cool idea!
How about Liger (cross between a lion & tiger)?
Now this should be interesting…
Seeing as the F/A-18 is called the ‘Bug’ by some, and the F-16 is a bit smaller, and seeing as you’re gonna put some ‘Scooter’ parts on it… why not call this thing the ‘Skeeter’? [:p]
Fade to Black…
how about the F/A-16 Yellow Jacket
I felt inspired today and cranked out some work .Right now, everything is “tacked” so I can get a better feel for what it’s suppoesd to look like.Plus,I want to keep the interest level up. I like the names coming in.Better than I’ve been able to come up with. Now, you may be saying that the gear won’t work the way it is.My explanation is, since it’s a Navy/Air Force collaberation,it will work in reverse, of course[;)]
I am going to add accuators to draw the main gear forward and the nose gear aft. If I did it the way the gear actually works,I’d have a real balance problem.I guess I should have moved the main gear wells aft,but hey, that’s a Squid for you.[:D] Tomorrow, putty and sanding… Thank to everyone for the contributions of names.Keep them comin’.
Call it the Mako. It is a kind of shark, which would be appropriate for a Navy plane, and the actual shark looks pretty menacing, although I don’t think it makes it onto the top ten most dangerous list.
Actually, Mako’s can be dangerous. (http://www.newenglandsharks.com/shark.htm - Scroll down to “Dazed and Confused” and their 1,221 lb catch and tell me that’s not a dangerous animal) They may not have the “kills” like Bulls, Tigers, etc. do, but they’re a close cousin of the Great White that can reach up to 60 mph and completely breach the surface. Anyone want to swim with that?
“JSF” - 30 year ago? Eddie, that “Sea Snake” or “Skeeter” is looking good. That poor airframe already looks tired with the fins and spine. Can only imagine what the structural life would be on that!
I’m afraid that the name mako is already taken, it’s a project for a jet trainer by eads. (nice sugestion none the less)
How about…eh…no…sorry…no inspiration at this time.
How about the F-34 (16+18) Mutated Sea Bass (Dangerous and ill-tempered)?
[:D][:D][:D]
All joking aside, that looks sweet and is a great idea for a kit-bashing project! Well Done!

What about “Raider”?
From Galactica…(Colonial Viper and Cylon Raider…) [xx(]
How about the Vigilant Possum?
or more seriously
The Goblin II ( the gaping mouth just begs to be noticed)
or Quasimoto (the hunched back faring)
Or Thefighterprogrambegunonapartsboxbuildfeaturedonfinescalemodelerswebsitenowwehavetofundthisprogramandspendtenbilliondollarsonitsomodelershaveanewmodeltobu Program!
Ric
dont you realize Ric that if that last name was used they would need a bigger box
Ah,but since this is military, that needs an acronym[(-D]
then whats the acronym for Thefighterprogrambegunonapartsboxbuildfeaturedonfinescalemodelerswebsitenowwehavetofundthisprogramandspendtenbilliondollarsonitsomodelershaveanewmodeltobu Program!
SNAFU or…anybody…FUBAR. Just Kidding[:D] It definitely sounds like a Gov’t program.
Since I just robbed my unbuilt Blue Angel/ Marine A-4F of it’s drop tanks( the F-16 center line drop interfers with the nose gear),I’m gonna give it the nick name of Skeeter as per BlackWolf. I say nick name because all Navy A/C have them i.e. S-3=Hoover,Tomcat=Turkey, Prowler=Queer, etc…Still looking for the “official” name and number. Thank for all the participation by the people stopping by to check it out.[8D]
With the nose cone installed,it looks a bit “faster” This is after the first round of putty.
Pretty freaking cool to me! I’ll definitely stick to this and watch the progress. Thanks for the photos and updates and creativity, eddie!
