Dragon M4A1 DV **COMPLETE**

OK so whilst I await decals for a project that almost went belly up, there is no need to be idle at the bench. Next up is Dragons 1/35 M4A1 DV kit.

And ofcoarse the build begins with some rather detailed bogie assemblies:

after they are cleaned up a bit ill get these buggers assembled.

Bob

Looks like you’re off to a good start on this one Bob. Looking forward to seeing what you do with this one.

Interesting topic! I’ve wanted to get this kit for a long time. I look forward to your build. [H]

i knew there was a reason i didnt like armor lol, ill be watching though, if it comes out anything like the mossie ill be suitably impressed lol

Ahhh a Sherman…10,000 little parts just for the road wheels!!! Looking good

Rounds Complete!!

What a little surprise Bob. I didn’t see this coming. I also didn’t see the oops in the Mosquito. Looked like everything was coming along nicely.

Bill, TAP - stay tuned

Red - might as well be 10,001. Heck this is nothing, you should see the assembly on the roadwheels for Dragons Vorpanzer, OMG those are insane

Scorpio - LOL

Eric - no worries my brother, I didnt see the oops either, thankfully a set is on rout from England. once those are on the mossie will be fine.

Im assembling these now and the instructions are vauge at best but I figured out the best way to get them going. Ill some more tomorrow.

Bob

Oh, I will be watching you VERY CLOSELY [:|]… bet it is a nice change to build something American this time.

Bob,

True to your word. This was the next onto the bench. Those DML Super Kits were insane. I love 'em! This one is marked to be followed.

Cheers

Dave

Def - believe it or not this is the first Sherman I have ever built…LOL

Dave - Hey I told ya when you were at the house that this was next…lol. The super kits are insane…insane…insane…ok better now.

Moving right along. I spent about 2 hours last night getting the bogies assembled. Man they are nice, and a bit of a pian in the you know what, but once together are actually pretty cool and the detail is amazing.

Sprockets are complete.

then I started the transmission housing and glacis.

more work to be done today and photos to follow.

Bob

Meds kick in? LOL Oh very nice! Early bogies! Keep 'em coming.

Dave

OK… it’s time to get caught on a bout 6 weeks of no armor posts and this is as good a place to start as any. Actually, very good since I have this in the pile and have been wanting to do it.So I will keep and eye on this.

Bob, it looks good to me so far. Are the bogie’s articulated?

Dave - sedagive??? sedagive…I said SEDATIVE!..LOL. Yes my brother very early, these liottle beauties articulate as well.

Marc - yes they do articulate, these are sweet. You will love assembling them. they are little kits themselves…LOL

Ok so I got a little more done.

Thats it for now. Im slowly working on getting the fiddly bits attached to the hull. More later gents.

Bob

I shall keep an eye on this build, as I recently acquired one of the Dragon Shermans. I have only built the Tamiya M4-s before, so watching someone else build one will help me out immensely.

A Sherman! Yay!

On this one like …

well, you get the idea.

ahh, those bogies remind me of the AFV club M-10 I just did for Winter Warriors… lots of bits…[:^)]

Bob,

“Sedagives”. Holy smoke! LMAO! [:D] I’d forgotten all about that! Heck if all else fails take the sedagives.

I’m enjoying this build. Ooooorah, the Arsenal of Styrene.

Cheers

Dave

Have several Dragon Shermans in the stash but haven’t built one yet so I’ll keep an eye on this. BTW, all of mine have EP marks on the trans cover ribs. Just curious if this kit does too. Good work so far.

RB - welcome to the build [:D]

Dave - knew that would make you laugh brother

Shoot - nope didnt have any IP marks on any of this baby. However something bugs me about the turret which you will see in some of the shots ill get to in a minute.

Sorry progress has been slow so here are some shots:

completed hull:

Completed turret:

now for the part that bothers me. its not the seam, ist the area that lacks the (cast effect) and is smooth…What the heck am I going to do with this???

all mocked up for a shot. Still have a lot to go.

More to come gents, Im looking for a lost part now that went PIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNGG! somewhere but it is an essential part and Im digging for it. Im affraid Ill have to tear the whole bench up to find it.

Bob

Bob,

The seam line is OK as I’ve seen pics of actual turrets that have this line. Some heavier than others but, all appears to have had the seam line ground down. As for the casting texture, what I’ve used with good success is stipling on some Mr Surfacer. I’ve used it on a couple of Sherman builds and a JSU-152.

What part when PIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGG? (I almost snorked my coffee all over the computer at work. boy would my boss be torqued) I’ve got a few DML Shermans in the stash so there is a chance that I’ve got a spare. I also fabricated that new glue tubing for you. Let me know what part and I can send the two goodies to you at once. You think Edmund could use one?

Cheers

Dave
