Completed Zoukei Mura 1:48 Horten HO-229 with final set of stamps

To my fellow forum members,

Here is my next project. I’m not going to start building this kit until I’ve completed the GWH Black Widow. I’m just really excited about posting the HO 229. It arrived yesterday via USPS.

I recall a special on TV about Lockheed Skunk Works, building a full size replica of the HO 229. They not only completed the 229, Skunk Works also had it tested for the ability to deflect radar.

Who would of imagined a stealth fighter being built some 60 years ago by the two Horten brothers. This is a aircraft design that was way ahead of it’s time. There are a handful of model kit companies that produced 229’s but there are none being produced like this kit. At least I think so.

This kit can be built without it’s external skin or you can build as a 100% clear version of the 229. If you so choose to build it as a painted aircraft, just paint the clear parts. They also have simulated wood skins that can be built as such. The options are endless and it’s up to the modeler. Thank you in advance for the visit.

Wow!should be a great project!

Awesome choice.

BK

Ooooh! Excellent choice for your next build Toshi. Will be a fun one to watch for sure.

This kit should be really fun and very challenging. Just looking at the build sheet scares me a little. What did I get myself into? LOL! Thanks for the visit.

Toshi

Thanks BrandonK. I was browsing around eBay to see what would catch my interest, and when I saw this I immediately looked up reviews and hit the “Buy It now” button! LOL!

Toshi

Yes, I hope I can do justice to this infamous aircraft. Thanks for the read and reply!

Toshi

Have you built a Zoukei-Mura before, Toshi?

I looked at their display at the nats show in Columbus, was it last summer? I want to build something of theirs one day. I had a DO-335 in my hands, for some reason I put it back.

So, what’s your plan? Will it be clear? I didn’t know skin off is an option, that might be pretty neat too.

Anyway, looking forward to watching this one.

This is going to be awesome Toshi! I picked up their 1/48th Shinden as a Christmas present for myself a few years ago and it’s an incredible kit.

No, I’ve never built anything from Zokei Mura. All their products looks amazing. Never in my mind have I ever think that would be possible. As for what type I was going to finish off with, I’m looking either the all clear or no skin attached. Thanks for the visit!

Toshi

I would very much like to build the Shinden as my next project.

Toshi

Toshi,

This looks like a fantastic kit! I’ve been thinking of add this one to the stash. I’m looking forward to this build!

When I saw this selling on eBay, I couldn’t believe it. I had to go to the website to verify this kit. They have several great looking kits available.

Toshi

Toshi, Toshi…

The replica was built by your heroes at Northrop.

Now this should be fun to watch, good choice Toshi. I would love to get one of these in 32nd, but am not keen on the idea of the ZM kits. Bit i will look forward to watching yours.

I’m looking forward to this one as well there Toshi. If you can get your hands on any references it would greatly reward a build like this. The ZM 229 Concept note reference is a good place to start.

This should be an exciting build! So far the ZM seems like a great kit.

Toshi

From what I see so far is that this kit is top notch.

Toshi

O indeed, everything i have heard about this kits is that they are really nice. I just like to build a kit with the skin on and painted up and am not to keen on spending so much money when i know i won’t use a lot of it. I still live in hope that Revell will produce one, no harm in dreaming.
