Completed Zoukei Mura 1:48 Horten HO-229 with final set of stamps

My son built this 229 and loved it. I would too if it didnt take up so much shelf space.

Yes, you can dream. LOL!

Toshi

Yes, if they made a 1:72, more builders will find that attractive.

Toshi

Well, my boy gave me his ROG 1/72 version kit after he built the good one so some winter I’ll see if its worth some effort.

Just by my first impressions, browsing through the assembly manual, I think this will be the best yet.

Toshi

Well, then it is truly with bated breath that I wait to watch.

It seems I shall experience my first Zokei Mura vicariously. [::DD0]

Yes, and when I get through half the build I can give a recommendation.

Toshi

Ladies and gentlemen of FSM Forum, here is the first step of this build. The assembly of the Juno jet engines. ZM provides an engine display stand, I just might use it.

Here is half of the Juno Engine.

Nice work, Toshi. If you haven’t, take a look at the actual aircraft on the Smithsonian site.

Just FYI, the engine name is “Jumo”.

You might be interested in another glider based design, Lippisch’s Me-163 Komet. And the Douglas F4D Skyray.

Watching with interest.

Sir, thank you for the links and the correct verbiage for the Jumo Jet Engine. I deeply appreciate your input.

Toshi

The first photo was downloaded. If you go into the Yokei Mura site and click on products at the very top, you will find not only the aircraft, but you can pull up every single part of the build. If you so choose to build the other aircraft, the system works the same. As an example, P-51 Mustang.

I chose to print out the individual sets for paint recognition as well as accuracy. This is a big build for me. While I work on the Black Widow, I’m going from kit to kit. I now need to attach the various hose and connections on the Jumo. Maybe I took more than I could bite. LOL! The last pic is of the Yokei Mura photo next to the Juma engine I’m working on. The online support is fanatical! I hope you’re enjoying this thread as much as I enjoy assembling the 229.

Toshi

I have this kit too…watching with interest.

Oh wow, that is very cool. I’d love to see you Zokei Mura 229 in a WIP. Thanks for the visit.

Toshi

I also have this kit in my stash and will be watching your build with great interest. I built the 229 from Dragon kit couple years ago.

Watching with interest there Toshi! I’ve got the 1/32nd scale ZM kit. Almost wish I had the 1/48 scale one now…

How was the Dragon 229? LMK. I’m interested in how every manufacture designs the 229. Thank you for the read and reply.

Toshi

And…you’re off.

I didn’t know that about the pics avail on ZM site and that is very useful info. Thank you, Toshi! One of my biggest problems/challenges in modeling is how to paint/finish stuff. If I know what I’m trying to achieve, I can do it. It’s getting a visual pic of what I’m trying to achieve in my mind that stymies me. Actual ‘walkaround’ pics don’t necessarily help with my paralysis by analysis.

I look at the pic from ZM and think “That looks great, I can do that, more or less.”.

Ok, so if the first photo was downloaded from ZM site, where’s the second one from? Curious minds want to know.

I’ll trade you! LOL! I wanted to buy the 1:32 but it was out of my price range. I do want to build the Shinden, Japanese aircraft. Thank you for the read and reply!

Toshi

Yes, I completely agree in that photos of the model at the very least steers you in the right direction. As for the photo? I printed out the Jumo 004 and placed my engine (The small one) next to the Zokei Mura Jumo engine. Thanks for the questions. I enjoy engaging in such conversations.
