BomberGruppe GB - 2007 (Luftwaffe Bombers)

Thanks for the pics of the 234 mucker. [tup][tup] This is turning out to be a pretty good group of builds!

Not sure if it’s a rebox of the Dragon kit, but it is a JU-88C-6, the night fighter version. However, I don’t particularly want to to the night fighter with the antennas and stuff. I’ll have to look and see what other options are available in the kit.

I have the Pro-Modeler JU88C-6 in my stash which was considering doing for this build, however I know it was predominantly used as a Zerstorer. It is a reboxing of the DML kit with new instructions and decals, and I must say it seems like a very nice kit.

From what I gather, the JU88C-6 was a heavy fighter (Zerstorer) version of the JU88 series, The Ju88C-6a being the day fighter, Ju88C-6b and Ju88C-6c being the nightfighter versions with different radar setups.

I also have the Pro-Modeler Ju87R-1 in my stash, which was a long range version of the Stuka (it had additional fuel tanks installed in the outer wing areas which increased it’s range, but reduced it’s bomb load.)

So, as it stands right now I’d like to do my 1/48 Pro-Modeler Ju87R-1 for this build. [8D]

Dave (razordws): Yes, this is turning out rather nicely…Carlos has been “encouraged” to build the 177[:D], and hopefully we’ll find someone with an Fw200… Your 234’s will be neat, especially if you can get all 4 built withing the GB timeframe (no pressure or anything…)

I was amazed at how SMALL the 234 was in person. I guess I had the impression that becuase it was a bomber it had to be huge. It wasn’t entirely that much larger than the Fw190 it was next to and definately smaller than the Do335.

Scott: Excellent! I’m glad you’re joining the GB. We have a pretty strict panel of judges, but I think they’d let you in with the Ju88C as well, since the airframe was designed as a bomber. It was such a versatile aircraft, indeed.

I’ll mark you down for the Ju-87R-1.

“No soup for you!” Oh, wait…that was a different kind of Nazi altogether…

Sehen wir einen Fotos!

I’ve got some of the cockpit going…

Nice start, Mucker. I’ve gotta finish up a B-17 before I can start on my Ju-88 though. :frowning: Might be a few weeks.

[(-D] I thought I felt someone looking over my shoulder! Thanks mucker!! As for a diorama, seeing as how we’ve got until October…I just might.

I’m loving your cockpit, by the way. An awesome start to an awesome GB! I’m gonna have to start taking notes for my He-111. Thanks again!

Aloha,

Chris

Nice start on the office mucker

Thad

Nice Job Mucker, I am still waiting for my Stuka in the mail and the suspence is building![:D]

It’s the Planet 1/48 resin kit. My knees are shaking a little on this one, I don’t think it will go together overnight. There is a lot of detail in the kit.

Jeaton01: I applaude your unique choice and courage to tackle an all resin kit. Actually I am looking at a resin upgade for another build (which would be my first resin kit), so I am curious to follow your build. By the way, have you seen this link:

It sounds like it is a great kit.

TryintoModel:

Which B-17 are you building? I have a 1/48th Revel “F” version that some-year I will get to.

Looking good there komraden…

reminds me of my 111…hey let me take some pics of my 111 and we can post eventhough its from the past…im really proud of that build… when i get home tonight let me scan some cockpit shots i have in my HE book…i know it helped me…

And thanks to all who are participating!!! looks like we have a winner here!!![party]

Right now Im in the middle of 1 plane, another is on the way. When the first one gets down, I could enter in a H-111

Well, here are the first photos of my Ju88A-4 build, which I’d already posted in the aircraft forum before joining this GB.

I’ve made additional progress since taking these pictures - I have put the fuselage together and am currently working at getting rid of some unseemly seams. This build includes Eduard PE seatbelts and scrap wiring for the electrical work coming out of the IP. This is my first attempt at that level of detailing, and dry fitting the bombardier glass panel has revealed that I am probably in store for a little difficulty in getting that piece on properly. But I’ll work through that.

I’ll also probably start the Do217E5 this weekend and if so, I’ll post pictures.

Carlos:

Definately post those old He111 pics. If you can recall back that far, a few do’s and don’t’s from that kit would be appreciated, too.

FeldMarSchall: Give me a definite here…are you in? Another 111 would look great.

Aggieman: The 88 looks great…keep sending in pics of this one, as well as the 217. Very impressive detail in the 88 so far. It makes a positive difference.

I would love to try to build the H-111, I know in the next two weeks.

Nice work on the Ju88 cockpit Aggieman! [:)] [tup] [tup]

Sorry for the late reply. I’m building the 1/48 Revell-Monogram B-17G. Absolutely horrible kit, especially for my skills. But I guess you have to tackle kits like this to expand your skills. It’s just taking me a long time because I get to points where I don’t know what to do and I just let it sit there. On top of that, I’m one of those people that can’t start another kit until I finish the one I’m working on. So this build has seriously put the drag chute on my model building lately. I need to just jump in and get it done and quit worrying about how it will turn out.

Here is my latest pic of the B-17G.

Dave:

You and I must be a lot alike…I can’t have multilple builds ongoing simultaneously either. When I get stumped, I let the plane sit while I work things out in my head, then give it another whirl. And the supplies on your workbench are very similar…espacially those awesome pink sanding sticks (that Hobby Lobby no longer carries, by the way)!

It’s probably none of my business, but don’t just pump out the B-17 for the sake of completing it…make sure you do it to your own standards. If not, you’ll regret it once it’s done, but not to your liking.

I had to re-box and shelf my Revell B-26 several times before I completed it. It turned out “acceptable”, but I completed two whole kits during separate “shelvings” of the B-26. Each time I came back refeshed and finally finished it.

That’s what I get for buying a kit for it’s cheap price and nose art (ironically called “Idiot’s Delight”)!

Thanks for the encouragement, Mucker. I understand what your saying about not just throwing it together to get finished, but I think sometimes I get bogged down a bit too much by my attempts to make a build “perfect”. I’m not that great a modeler, so I should just be happy with what I can accomplish. It’s a fine line, though. You want to produce something your proud of, but you don’t want to put off modeling for the sake of making the perfect model either. I have several builds that I fretted over for long periods and eventually finished them with several mistakes that I could see. But no one else notices the mistakes but me. And when I eventually sit back and admire them, I realize that they are good models and I’m proud of them despite their flaws. So as far as the B-17 goes, I don’t want to just throw it together, but I need to get over that hump and realize it isn’t going to be perfect.

Hey Dave…

Always remember this…you are your worst critic…being so you will only see the flaws but sit back and admire also… compare to previous build and you will see a “learning curve”.

Sometimes the kit does NOT help. I dont consider myself an expert builder either but I had a Nichimo Jake that I ended up trashing because it was such a bad kit I realized. I couldnt do anything with it… no matter how hard I tried I was never satisfied, then I realized it was the kit.

Just keep up the good work…so far the 17 looks good.

Most of all remember that this hobby is for fun and relaxing…we all tend to forget that everyonce in a while. so step back, leave it alone for a while and start something else if need be. then you can go back to it with fresh eyes and complete it.
