Bizarre Box Art

For some weird reason some model kit box art seems to head in a direction that has you scratching your head in just what they were thinking.

Here I present you with a Roden kit of a driverless Maultier doing a wheelie while there is an apparent rift in the space time continuum going on around it.
Possibly a M.C. Escher design?

What bizarre box art have you come across?

You mean you don’t pop a wheelie whilst there is a Doc Brown rift in the space-time continuum going on around you?

“Where we’re going with this Maultier, we don’t need roads.”

Well I try to avoid it but wouldn’t say “never”.

Maybe the tow cable is the only thing preventing it getting sucked into oblivion

I think it may be stuck on it actually.

Not quite as obvious but…

Why is an ASW Sea King from the wrong squadron and ship dropping a homing torpedo on what appears to an Apollo capsule?

That Seaking pilot must have a gripe with that Apollo crew lol.

The infamous time warp box art of the Buccaneer. It somehow wandered into the WW 2 Pacific theater with a burning Zero going down in the background.

A float plane would not be my first choice for an alpine environment during winter.

Didn’t they make a movie about this? The Final Countdown?

They sure did in 1980. Tomcats vs Zeros!

@Tcoat Definitely giving off some Indiana Jones vibes!

Kind of reminds me of the beginning of the movie The People That Time forgot. But it wasn’t the same plane… But it was a float plane and it was flying in the snowy mountains.

Here’s a better picture

I just watched the trailer. It looks terrible. I’m going to have to watch it tonight.

Next up we have a young Clark Kent in mid flight while flinging a driverless VW Bug ahead of him.

The Final Countdown. A guilty pleasure of mine since I first saw it in the summer of 1980. One of the earliest movies I recall with an ending that you maybe don’t see coming.

I got nothin’ but great thread idea :bulb:

I don’t think I can top the OP, but why on earth would you depict your subject failing at it’s job? I don’t think this was a ramming mission…

This particular box art had people talking when it first came out and it possibly could explain why this kit sold. Sadly the artist who created this art work died in the early days of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
