Models MODELS!MODELS!!

What a COOL kit!.. Thanks Mark! [:D]

The fusalage is 22 inches long! …346 parts! including a thin sheet of styrene for the bench seats and wire!

Big? That chopper is HUGE!

Cant wait to see it finished. And good luck trying to find a parking space for that monster. [:D]

Your welcome Troy. I also am looking forward in seeing pictures of the finished model.

I will need to keep the main rotor removable for easier shelf space.

I’m going to try to keep this an out of the box project.

I wanted to start today but I got hit hard last night with a cold and slept most of today…I still feel pretty icky! [xx(]…maybe tomorrow…after I clean up my desk…first I gotta find it! [:p]

I hope you feel better. I had to take my wife to the doctor yesterday.

Sorry to hear about that Mark. Is it the Flu?

Nope a ear infection and Bronchodius. I am just waiting my turn to get sick.

NICE!!!

I had Revell’s 1/48 Sea Stallion when I was a kid and it was about 22 inches long with an even bigger rotor diameter. You’ll have your work cut out for you making some clearance space on a shelf for that one.

By the way, what decal options do you get in that kit?

This certain kit came with only the French navy rescue and French comando decals.

I wonder if this chopper was used by anyone else other than the French and Isralies?

I’ll answer my own question, here is a list that I have found and I believe the South African Gov used then too.

France, Iraq, Israel, Libya, People’s Republic of China, and Zaire.

Yes: the South African Air Force used them. The SAAF Museum actually maintains an airworthy example of one.

thanks eh!

It looks like it may be late Feb or later for the 1/72 Revell VII C Sub kit to hit the States so…I’m digging right in on this big sucka! and I’m going to have fun too![:p]

I’ll guess I’m going with the France thing [:(]…Unless it would be unethical for me to use U.S. Coast guard or Navy decals?..like a “Lets say or pretend we did use a few…kinda like thing?”

Boy…It sure would look nifty in Coast Gaurd colors!!

Then go for it, Troy!!!
Nothing in the modeling manuals say you can’t use your imagination.
Tomorrow morning I’m gonna start an S-3 Viking as a firebomber!!! Read and article where the USFS is kicking the idea around so, I thought I’d try and beat them to the punch! [:D]

Sounds COOL!

I think I will!

( I hope I can scrounge up some Coast Guard Decals…if they are 1/72 or 1/48th I can re-size the images )

Can’t wit to see it, Troy!!!

The directions say to start with the main rotor assy but I could not help myself …So last night I started with the cockpit…it seemed natural …the only bad thing about this kit is that all the controls and dials in the cockpit are DECALS! which are OLD and very YELLOW! so I’m using some extra photo etch parts and I robbed a extra parts kit - 1/35 MRC UH1 chopper for for its control surfaces. ( So I guess its not quit ‘out of the box’ like I posted earlier…ooops! )

For an OLDER kit… there is VERY little if NO flashing and the quality seems to be like a Tamiya kit! VERY NICE!

Built this kit many years ago. It is an excelent kit. Goes together well. I built the rotor blades folded. Hinges are molded separately, looks pretty cool. It is huge. You can even fit a 1/35th jeep in the rear cargo area.

Havn’t been to the desk yet today but I just looked and HOLY COW! there are hinges! COOL!!

I’m like digging this project more and more every day![:D]

Thanks Gino!

Excellent kit, was building this well over 20 years ago, as an Israeli Defence Force Helo, got as far as getting the 1/2’s together. Didn’t get a chance to finish it. Joined the Navy. So packed it and stored and somehow lost it with some other items. I’ve been looking for another one since. I have never seen one built. Unless there is one about on any of the other modeling sites. Have fun, I did when I started mine.

Happy New Year
