hey,

i’m peter and live in Brisbane, and am new to modeling, i am mainly focusing on Australian modeling subjects but do other modern tanks from various countries

G’day fellas,
I live in Canberra, my interest in modelling revolves mainly around WWII aircraft although any military subjects can grab my attention. I also love military history and reading, so all these interests work well together. I also try to fit in some Trout fishing. Tommorrow I’m heading to the Australian War Memorial to check out the unveiling of “G for George” Lancaster. Around 1 million dollars has been spent restoring her, should be something to see! Hard to believe she survived so many missions (around 90) over Germany.

Regards…Snowy

Gday boys,
Jeff from Coffs Harbour here.I’ve been modelling for a long time off and on but have been getting much more into it last couple of years.I like 1/48 aircraft ,ww2 mostly, and 1/35 armour and softskinned vehicles. I don’t make too many though, not very much available time.I’m really into military history, mainly ww2 Europe .
Can’t say a lot of my models are up to FSM standard , I’ve never used an aftermarket set [expensive !] and don’t even have an airbrush, but I’m usually happy with my results and mostly rely on weathering and washes to get the effects I want.Love those pastels.
Cheers,
Jeff

Snowy;
I have to agree with you about Canberra being good for reference, I was based there four 5 years, left in September 02. Will have to get back to see G for George now that it has been restored. If you are not aready aware of the ACT Scale Modellers Society and want some contact info let me know, I still keep in contact with them.

Count me in this group as well.
I’m Pete and I reside in the state of tax … oops, sorry… that is Bracks, ie Victoria at Castlemaine near Bendigo,
Started modelling about eight and never really stopped despite a few breaks along the way to deal with the other less interesting things in life.
These days i do it when the mood takes and my usual preference is 72 nd scale WWII aircraft with a few 1/12 bikes and cars just for some variety.
Love the people here on this board and the quality is superb…a real inspiration for me.

Keep posting.

Cheers, Pete

g no fair you got more replies hehe [:p]

Hey, Wayne…
I’m Lee and I live in Melbourne - I make a lot of 1/48 a/c, 1/24 cars, 1/12 bikes and anything else I can get my hands on. Been modelling about 35 years now.
Cheers

Hi All
I’m Michael and live in Perth.
I’ve just started modelling - my interest at the moment is military aircraft in 1/48 and 1/32. I’ve got a 1/48 Spitfire Vb, a 1/48 F-104 and a 1/32 Hunter on the go. Haven’t managed to finish one yet.
Go Dockers~!!~

Love the handle there Porcelain Bus!
Got to admit to driving one or two myself on the odd occassion!
Cheers, Pete

After checking this thread, I find that here in good old aussie there only seems to be 7 aussie modellers, plus 1 of our across the Tasman relatives (if you want to pantherart you can join us).

I find this very hard to beleive that there is only 7([#oops] 8 sorry pantherart) of us. Come on aussies let us show the world that modelling is alive and well in this part of the world and let us know who you are.

Representing Sydney (North Shore Chapter). Name’s Simon but called Springy by all who know me. Originally from England so don’t know if that disqualifies me.

Hey, Pantherart, just got back from NZ. Was in Chch for a few days and went to that Airforce Museum (at Wykham ?sp?). With your name you sound like an armour man but, if you like planes, it’s well worth a visit. They only display aircraft types actually used by the NZAF and were restoring an old Kittyhawk when I was there (rebuilding the wings by hand). They traded with an Aus museum for the K’hawk (which had crashed in the Top End) swapping it for a Corsair they had because the Corsair was not a mark flown by NZAF. Anyway, as I say, if you like aircraft, you should check it out.

My interests are mostly 1:72 WW2 aircraft and armour and some 1:35 armour but have been known to dabble in other areas.

PS My mate says the NZAF no longer exists. Is that true?

Hi Springy, does matter where you are from providing that now live in Aussie.

I can give you an answer to the question you asked Pantherart, the NZAF still exist, but it is a reduced form, the fighter wing was disbanded a couple of years ago but the maritine and transport wings were kept going, well this was the state of things just before I retired from the RAAF.

Yep the RNZAF is still flying although as South Aussie said the fighter wing was disbanded about 3 years ago. The museum is in a southern suburb of Christchurch at the old Wigram Air Force Base. Incidently this base used to host a round of the Tasman Series for 2.5 litre single seater cars every January and was the first circuit in the world to see the Lotus 49 in the Gold Leaf tobacco colours - now there is a bit of trivia for you!!

Hey

I was just thinking this the other day - how many fellow aussies call FSM as their local watering hole. I’m Luke from Northam, 100ks northeast of Perth. My real interests are in 1/350 WWII to present-day ships & 1/48 WWII to present-day aircraft. Great to see you all (even if you are a kiwi - nobody’s perfect, and your entitled to Medicare - great huh!)

Nicholma. Thanks for confirming what I believed had happened,[] must apologise for leaving the R of RNZAF.

With your reply Luke, there are known 9 Aussie modellers + 2 New Zealanders that belong to the FSM Forum. Still believe there are more out there, one can only hope that they will say Hi.

Yes I’m really suprised there is only 2 Kiwis prepared to identify themselves!

G’Day Fellow Aussie moddelers , I’m Chris from Brisbane. I build World war 2 aircraft. It’s good to see a few aussies here. I have often wondered how many of us visit this site.

Hi Chris with your reply it makes 10 of us Aussie but I am still sure there are more of us out there if only they were prepared to let themselves be known.

I am also sure that pantherart and nicholma are not the only 2 New Zealanders out there and I don’t mind them using this thread to identify themselves.

South Aussie, G’day, ( I work with some Aussie blokes out here, so I’ve picked up a bit of strine) Up until a few months ago there was another Aussie on here, I can’t remember his name though. he did help me with my questions on the Short Skyvan, so you could scroll through the Aircraft section & find him that way, I hope he’s okay.
Also there was a Kiwi, nzgunnie, don’t know whats happened to him either, maybe they’ve both moved onto another forum.
Cheers
Pete
